Seen many videos on how to grout and this one was by far the clearest. Some of the comments below are so rude, it would help their cause if they could spell properly too. Anyways, thanks a lot for doing the video - it was very helpful to me.
@thelostjournalofmystifying3547 жыл бұрын
i agree, he does a very good job explaining how to do it CORRECTLY . some guys on here who don't know what they are doing will make their grout super thin and tell you to smear the grout everywhere and wait 15 - 30 minutes before wiping with a sponge . that method is horrible , i tried it and the grout came out uneven and created patches on my tile . i was so pissed
@Saulram916 жыл бұрын
the lost journal of inception he smeared the grout every where any way with the way he used that sponge. One pass flip sponge one pass rinse sponge. The idea and concept of grout applying is great for large format tile. Not as effective on small tile.

This. Have seen lots of pro grouting videos that honestly make it way harder than needs to be. I do like he does and works great.

For all the negative comments saying he should loosen up the grout or its to dry youve must of never worked with pre-mixed its acrylic based not cement based grout...you dont do ANYTHING but take a small spatula n mix it a little bit in the bucket. No you dont add any water or loosen then grout to spread it. That weakens the color. Before you comment on threads maybe you should get some knowledge...what hes doing is exactly the correct way (albiet slowly for instructional purposes) of using this particular grout..with cement based grouts you get a big pile and spread all over the floor not with acrylic grouts no way in hell..once its on the surface of ANY tile its a nightmare to get off if you dont do it within 10-15 mins at most...DONT let it haze up either..i use a ardex sponge for 1st wipe then immediately go over it with a microfiber wrag..trust me it will save your elbow n back hours of scrubbing if you do it that way..acrylic grouts are very well made now..the color is always sealed n solid & also crack resistant..my favorite company is laticrete or Ardex. Both are top of the line in setting materials n grouts..for the haters who just like to hate please stop..we all think our way is the best way but theres always tricks to the trade that we all can learn...NBC said it best on Saturday mornings “THE MORE YOU KNOW” lol

Allphillyallday14 Lang - That¨s correct acrylic and other pre-mixed, have/must be dealt differently. I´m precisely finishing grouting with Epoxy grout, 2 components, base with color and hardener (25%). If I tried to follow some of the comments here. Like in "normal", cement based, grout. I would have a clumpy mess by now. ;-) With this said, whenever possible I do prefer the "normal" grout a little bit more liquid and it´s super fast. ;-) Cheers

I recently did my 2nd tile floor and before I did it I ran across this video. I started by doing the swipe and flip of the sponge in the beginning of the floor. When I got half way through I ended going to the circular method and I found that I liked doing this better do to how the grout lines looked in the end. I am going to be doing another floor job here soon and I am going to do this same method. I'm glad I found this video.

agree with what he says , it's okay if there is a thin layer of grout. the water de activates the grout, and if it's spread thinly it can't bond to the tile. I used to wipe my grout too much, and accidentally would take too much grout out of the joints lol . it's OKAY if you have a thin layer of grout as long as you can see that the grains are spread far apart over the tile surface. its fine! but if the grout is clumped and slightly thick then it may adhere to the tile and you will have to scrape it off

You should not do a how to video showing the wrong way to grout tile. The correct way is so much faster and EASIER!!! Only do two long wipes between rinses. Here’s how it’s done... #1 take your wet sponge, wring it out THOROUGHLY so it’s just damp and not dripping. #2 Start the first wipe with the edge of the sponge touching your thumb first and rotate as you wipe and end with the other edge by your pinky finger. It should be one long motion, no back and forth. Wipe the tiles semi-diagonally in a SINGLE DIRECTION as you turn the sponge from one edge to the other by turning your wrist. #3 FLIP the sponge over to the clean side and start the second wipe, next to or below the first wipe. Again, it’s just one long wipe as you turn the sponge from one edge to the other so you don’t smear the grout like in your video. #4 RINSE the sponge and WRING IT OUT THOROUGHLY. #5 REPEAT. IMPORTANT... YOU ONLY GET TWO INDIVIDUAL WIPES BETWEEN RINSES!!!. It’s faster, easier, and cleaner! You’re welcome

1st of all the Grout Float he is using is for marble or Hi- Gloss porcelain . It is way to stiff and hard for this application . 2nd issue . The Grout Trowel < Float > is designed to pull your grout on the face of the tile , slapping it in there at 2 inches at a time is painful to view . Regardless of pre-mix or dry grout , you want a fluid , movable pile of 5 inches in diameter to move around with the trowel . A rubber flexible trowel is needed here . Apply at a diagonal angle and use some firm palm muscles to push it in as the trowel slides . That floor should be done in parts ~ 4th's or 1/3 at a time and would take a novice helper about an hour to apply the grout and have it cleaned . You want the grout to be fluid enough to push and pull over the tile . Think of Pudding or dry wall paste . Tacky enough to stay on your hand . It should not be dry like a cookie . Pre-mixed can be mixed with a SPINNER MIXER on a cordless drill . When cleaning the grout up , strike a sponge diagonal over the tiles to not pull grout back out . Flip sponge and repeat . DO not rub in circles folk's . That is Futile ! Have 2 buckets of water . A bucket for rinsing 1st and a bucket for dipping into clean water . Then your not putting dirty water back on the floor as you go . Have 3 or more sponges . 2 in each bucket is what I use . Have a fan on the tile to speed up the water clean time . A box fan is good . If you are happy with one pass application of grout and it's dried . Use a " cheese Cloth " as a final cleaning material to get all the powdered haze of faster and efficiently . Don't keep sponging with water . Most floors need 2 full grout passes unless your a pro . At least a touch up pass on area's that got fudged or need additional grout . That Glass grout tile - OMG lol - Area's like 4 by 4 are safe to work if your inexperienced . The tile he has may be porcelain but it is not hi-gloss faced and a RUBBER GROUT FLOAT is fine to use . A tile guy !

Haris Sakanovic “THE GROUTER?” REALLY? Wow...your opinion literally has zero value...your online giving your professional opinion apparently and your terminology is on point also. Damn your good !!! Its called a grout float myman. Your telling him hes doing it wrong n yet hes doing it his way which if that gets the job done for him then thats the right way...in our tile field if you asked 10 legit setters there waterproofing preferences or methods most of us will have different opinions..doesnt mean ones right n others wrong. Theres more then 1 way to complete projects and overtime we all figure out what method is comfortable for u. I use a plastic putty/spackal knive when grouting...it may take me a little longer to soread but saves me alot of time doing 3 wipes because theres less grout on the surface.

It premixed acrylic...you don't add water to it, the H2O will compromise the coloring....you can't make it any thinner than whats premixed when you open it. I believe you are thinking of cement based grout...js different ballgame when it comes to the bases and how they are mixed

Really man you grout the whole floor at once even if is epoxy grout due to that been a small area
@AussieAussieOZoioioi6 жыл бұрын
I don't mean to sound cocky but that seems like a hard way of doing it. I just taught myself yesterday and I find it if you had the mixture a little more wet it's easier to play with as it does dry quickly anyway and it's easier to drop them in the gaps using a back and forth angled movement and it smoothens and fill the gap perfectly while doing it a helluva lot faster as the grout is a little more wet it's easier to maneuver from tile to tile filling the gaps.
