I really like the “ego lifting for strength” tip here. I used to be hyper focused on slow and controlled reps when it came to horizontal rows. It wasn’t until I upped the weight and focused on being more explosive that strength gains really started to blow up on my pulls.

Others made complicated contents 🤯. Me personaly only do pull up, push up variations, explosive and single leg variation, toes to bar variations for abs. And I am also a marathoner ❤ keep it simple for years and results will come!

for short: -for vertical pulls either pullups or pulldowns are ok, with OP prefering Pullups -for horizontals using barbell rows and inverted rows are quite damn good (barbell rows are easy to progressively overload and give you crazy lower back gains, you can modify inverted rows to make them harder). You can also do front lever rows and stuff, also pretty good -for diagonals you can do any form of pullovers and single arm rows because they wrap around your ribs. the calisthenics version is front lever pulls, while strict muscle ups also count. -diagonals are not 100% needed but can give you some extra gainz because of variety -RDLs and other hip hinges will give you the missing goodies for back, and help a lot with posture

Perhaps you can study and make a video about the pull-ups competitions - mainly taking place in Russia as far as I know - where competitors from all ages 10-70, achieve extreme high rep counts in a row 35-80 reps. I know it sounds far-fetched but I saw a young 12 yo competitor completing +30 reps on his 1st try, and a senior of 64 yo completing +65 reps in a row. I think the winner had +75 reps. Now that is astonishing. There is also a video of some random Russian guy from ~3 years ago doing ~120 reps in a row all recorded in real time with no editing (there were people in the background playing football or something, so you can tell it is unedited real time). He was doing it with such ease, full ROM, no kipping.

I’ve been enjoying Street Lifting lately mixed in with some other free weight movements (DL, OHP, BB Rows in particular). Best of both worlds with the main focus being heavy squats and weighted dips/pull-ups. Just haven’t got my first muscle up yet but slowly working on it.

13:53 I never even noticed that, but wouldn't high pull ups be better I think the act of switching from a pull movement to a push movement would mess up the flow of things and in my opinion just feels better like I'm either getting more out of my Lat's or I'm getting a better connection.
