If anyone wants to know how to make a gardening (or almost any) video, this is the example to follow. It is well-informed, helpful, fascinating and bright and sunny, with FANTASTIC SOUND. I'm so grateful to you for going to the trouble of making this. It will help gardeners for decades to come. This system is exactly the way to grow delicious runner beans, the tastiest of all beans by miles (In my opinion!). Am fascinated by your view on putting a bit of meat product in your composting infill. Nature will break it all down, and the bone content is excellent for plants and the richness of the soil. Thank you so much for some really fabulous advice.

Liked and subscribed. I now have 2 Monty's in my gardening life ☺️ I've been gardening for over 40 yes but we're never too old to learn. If you can get hold of sheep, goat or rabbit manure, you can use it straight away as a mulch. Am loving your tips ❤️

Aww thank you Dawn, i'm thinking of getting some rabbits for the kids but at the moment we only have access to chicken manure
@dawntheodore4 жыл бұрын
@@MyFamilyGarden one word of caution about rabbits...... Don't put them in the chicken run. We did that years ago. They totally trashed it and escaped one night and proceeded to eat half of our veggies 😣 what was really funny was all the chooks had a look on their faces as if to say "naughty bunnies. We'd never do that" 😂

Wow, if that is leafy coriander (dhaniya to my Asian pals!) then I'm very envious mate! I would never need to travel 15 miles to Southampton to buy it if I could grow it so well. Going to give it another try this coming spring. This video has made me very excited for next spring - I can't wait to hear those blackbirds singing!

Watching this in August 2022. Wish I had seen this earlier! Such fantastic information on soil preparation for growing in pots. I’ll follow these tips for next years crop and see if there’s any difference. I throw away chicken and fish waste in bins although I feel bad about it but now I know how to use them. Since they’re used in pots I think rats won’t be a problem. Thank you for sharing such valuable information. God Bless.

It’s so refreshing to see people from our community care about sustainability, zero waste and environmentally friendly ways to reduce waste and live more organically. Alhamdulillah so glad I came across your channel. Maybe one day you can share how it’s Sunnah to reuse, reduce and live a zero waste sustainable lifestyle. Even how milk is produced for the mass now is so despicable because cows are impregnated like a machine repeatedly, their baby taken away at birth so the milk can be taken for us. Instead the proper method is to let the baby take its share of milk and the remainder is for us. Breaks my heart. But as consumers we have so much power to choose to buy from more sustainable companies. Did you know Microfibre from our polyester clothing and plastics in general ends up in rivers and oceans going into the food chain all the way. Makes me wonder why more and more people are getting sick. If only we chose to buy better quality more organic natural materials, reduce, reuse and say no to plastics. 🙌🏼minimalist zero waste lifestyle.

It's important to use the resources we have and not waste unnecessarily. Jazakallah for the support. Exactly that's why i like to natural fibres as much as possible

@MyFamilyGarden4 жыл бұрын
try stabes/riding schools etc they have to pay to dispose and will let you have it for free
@louloucranston36404 жыл бұрын
Be careful with manures from stables where animals are bedded on straw. I had used some a few years ago which had residual persistent herbicide in it and it destroyed my entire potato crop that year leaving the bed contaminated for 3 years. If you can find it saw dust bedding is safer. Monty thanks to you my plot has the most exotic vegetable on our allotment site. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing my first bottle gourd...its so exciting

Great advice on filling the tubs with organic material, I've got some tall tubs that I was going to plant parsnips in, do you think that would work for them or will it make the roots fork? Thanks Monty 😊

Thanks Bethan, i think it may cause forking issues, like carrots i don't think they like the activity generated froma lot of organic matter not just nitrogen

Quick question pls. So i am growing my gourd in balcony, on a trellis very nicely Alhamdullilah. So I have done the 1g cut and the 2g branch has come out. Now how long do you let that 2g and any 3g go on for? Do you cut the tip after a certain amount of leafs/lenght?
@MyFamilyGarden4 жыл бұрын
Let the 2g shoot grow a couple of feet before you pinch out the end or untill it has a few flowers on. I did a video on it last year it might help kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJ3OnKijf8yXhqs

Assalamualaikum Could you plz advise me as to a why my Bangla Lau plants keeps dying after I change them into bigger pots. Over the last 3 weeks I've lost so many mature plants approximately 2/3 metres long, I used miracle grow bag compost. I even tried mixing cow manure compost with chicken pallets fish and and blood meals after letting the compost set for few weeks, but no matter what once I try to plant them outside, they plant loses its growth shrivelled and dies. I even tried introducing to weather slowly few hours each day before taking them outside. I tried so many things but nothing's working. My post have planty of drainage and I use quality stuffs so I don't know what to do any more.

Walaikum Salaam, I've done a whole series on staring them from seed and a video on transplanting and explained it all in there, the issue is probably neck rot - kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHrWnICsbJydqpo I don't touch miracle grow because of the cancer causing chemicals in their fertilisers. At a young age they don't neet fertilizer not untill they start flowering. Blood, fish and bone contains pig blood They need hardening off properly before planting outside - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp23g2x8qraaia8 that covers how to prepare your plants roperly before they go outside and bones and is haram for Muslims to use.
