The whole series of videos you've made (seed to harvest) are great! Makes it very easy to do a quick search on the specific vegetable or plant to see how to grow it. And it's nice to show both the bucket system and the regular in-the-ground garden style of growing. Thanks!

You and Nancy have absolutely been wonderful inspiration for me. I've always loved having a vegetable garden but health problems, and the depression that creeped in, caused me to lose interest in almost everything. By watching your videos I began wanting to grow vegetables again. After the wanting came the doing. I already had a few large containers and I've gone to my local bakery and they've given me 3 and 5 gallon food grade buckets. My husband drilled the drainage holes and bought me other needed supplies. I'm outside again doing things that I enjoy. I just wanted you both to know how very much you've helped me. Thank you.

@HollisNancysHomestead4 жыл бұрын
In the refrigerator, it stays fresh about 3-6 months - and continues to ferment, which may lead to a sourer taste but creating more good bacteria. Some people have up to year for me it too long. Check and make sure its not mushy. Also put in several smaller bottle (DON't OPEN) until use with leaf on top to keep the brine below the kimchi with cabbage leaf and put a plastic lid (has slow leak of air) so it does not create a bomb. Put it with something on the bottom of kimchi bottle to make sure it does not leak on to the refrigerator. ENJOY :-)

Being a new gardener, it would be helpful to have a list showing "when" to do all of the stages. Can you please include, in your videos, a slide with words showing dates of when you plant seeds, and do all other stages of the process up thru harvest OR post those dates in your descriptions of your videos for quick reference for the next planting season? I was thinking you started it now, September 24th (video date), but after watching realize that probably is not so. Thanks for your help, we ALWAYS love the wisdom shared in your videos, just don't know when to do the different stages LOL!

Can you use his same method with homemade soil and blood meal with strawberries in containers?
@TheGardenerNorth4 жыл бұрын
If I could make a suggestion regarding your germination rate on your cabbage. On the packet it says Germination rate 97%, this would be optimal conditions. Your best germination will always be from using Heat Pads, (hydroponic or greenhouse supply companies) in conjunction with clear plastic domes. I realize that your dealing with periodic excessive heat, so I would place Frost blankets as curtains in front of your racks to reduce sun exposure hitting the black trays and possibly provide adequate air circulation with some small clamp fans in the daytime. The one thing I can say for sure is that if you reduce your stress, either sun, heat or cold and create consistent ideal heat source, you should be able to achieve at least 100% - 97% and those cabbage will pop in few days, not two weeks. Cheers!
