Im going to be taking some cuttings from my uncles grape vines, he is slowing passing on and his garden was a big thing to him. I want to get some cuttings so that i can add them to our yard as a "tribute" to him. Thanks for this tutorial on how to do it, I fear I only have one shot at this.

you can have another shot so to speak take the fall prunings HARD WOOD about 12 -15 inches scrape the bottom about 1inch get the bark off tillyou see white use rooting powder if you have any if not stick in damp soil at least 6 in deep do a bunch some will sprout others wont ... if you 2-3 sprouted thats all you will need now every year add a few more good luck

A big mistake is only doing 1 or 2 cuttings , i did this and they died, since those experiences i now do many cuttings as you said some take and others don't, so people always do more cuttings than you need , you can always give some away if you get to many that take , that's a good thing.

Can I take cuttings from my grapevine in the fall for replanting in Michigan
@fishmut
@fishmut 3 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely you can , i live in Australia and i have grown them in just a pot of sand , let them sit and they grow when spring comes as normal , try experimenting different ways to see what works for you. i take the cutting in the winter and just put them in the pot of moist well drained sand and that's it , you can add if you like a little compost to the sand and mix it and try that it also works here. the compost is 1 third ratio to the amount of sand you use if that helps or just good old river sand what ever give it a go .

At what point do you remove the willow? Seems like it has a bigger root system than the grape will have especially since it has a head start. Pulling out the willow could break the new roots of the grape, no?

Do you by any chance know if there's a way to tell the difference between a male grepevine and a female grapevine without having to wait for the fruits to come out?

We do, actually, because people ask from time to time. We just did an update recently on treating yellowing holly trees with wood ash, so you could see the before and after. We'll do an update on these vines this fall when we transfer them to the ground. Thanks for checking out our video.

Do you know how likely a well-established grapevine is to survive when it experiences trauma to the root system? I ended up on this video because a patio that I'm having put in seems to have really had a negative impact on a nearby grapevine that has been on the property for years. I'm going to try this from another vine, but I'm really hoping the existing vines pull through!

"Sorry about that"? There's nothing to be sorry about mentioning Edison grew his fame off of Tesla's genius. Imagine if Tesla wasn't held back fighting for years over what he invented, never got credit and it caused him to hand away his rights to inventions to better the world and that still failed Morgan and Edison profited huge from it. And this isn't the horror story. The horror story if what else could Tesla had given us if he 2as able to progress his work while being fully funded I would guarantee it's more then his however many inventions we still haven't improved on today but what greatness don't we have if the greed for money and ego by Edison and Morgan hadn't shut him down. The government and others may have stolen tons or his secret work on his death but only Tesla knew how it works! Sorry I kind of got off track for a minute Telsa was centuries ahead of his time. I came on to learn how to take cuttings from my monster concord grape "tree".
