Do hops mature with age? I ask because the best I ever bought were 6 years old according to the date stamp. When I split the vacuum pack, the perfume was intense and amazing.

It was very helpful to watch your video because I just planted Columbus hop rhizomes. I will definitely use your advice to grow the hops beautifully:) While I was watching your video, I wondered what if I planted the rhizomes eye-side down. Will it discourage the rhizomes grow or won't it matter? I'm sure I planted them eye-side up (the white stem(?) up side) but just for curiosity. Also, I was worried to put mulch on the mound where the rhizomes were planted because I thought it might block the sunlight for rhizomes. Is it okay? It would be very helpful if you could answer to these questions and again, thanks for your video:)

Last summer while I was out in the puyallup river I smelled hop's and found cascade hops growing wild. Could it be? Survivors of the great hops blight? I took a few feet of roots and about twenty pounds of hops and this year I have a dozen little hop plants ready to grow. And ran off some good beer. No way am I going to prune in January or February! I am NOT going to shovel 2'-4' of snow away, then pick-ax the mulch in order to move it away from the roots. Rather than giving a time frame, how about giving temperature criteria on when it would be best to prune? If hops grown from zones 3-8, obviously "January or February" will NOT apply to everyone...quite possibly DOES NOT apply to more areas than it DOES apply.

Generally a good video, except it tells you to dry hops at about 140F. Lupulins (which store the alpha and beta acids prized for brewing beer) are ruined at temperatures over 140F and significant damage occurs at temps between 110F and 140F. You should dry hops at below 110F.
