That is so true about changing your beliefs- I remember growing up people would never have lived common law, but then when people’s children went wayward and started living common law - the parents all suddenly became good with it. I remember a Catholic lady who had son that divorced and then he lived common law. She said it was good so that way you know if you want to marry the next one? Same as divorce- teaching against divorce is biblical from Moses, yet many hate the Catholic Church because of the divorce teaching and many in the Catholic Church just seem to ignore it. They marry outside of the church and then just come back and receive communion. They say God would not want me to live alone and be unhappy, making their wishes into Gods wishes for them.

For ‘admitting to sin’ I prefer ‘accepting weakness’. That can be very hard. The weakness can be terrifying. It’s why our minds avoid it. ‘Admitting to sin’ brings in a note of judgementalism which can keep the wounded from Christ. Their weakness may be from a long time ago, when it was not their fault.
