Really great tips . I really enjoyed how comprehensive this is and how you take a holistic approach. Specifically, when you discussed hormonal balance and also that learning thy hair takes time!!! I was always so impatient with my hair so I chopped it off...only to realize ( after pregnancy and a surge of hair growing hormones) that I actually do love my hair, I just needed to treat it better and learn how to care for it. Good luck and patience to those growing their hair !

Let me just start with how much I cannot express with words what a joy and enlightenment you are to ones soul!! I've personally learned so much from you, so thank you for being you and all that you do. Also, I'd like your opinion on a subject to do with both male and female hormone balance.... Do think all these soy based products are a factor in problems? Not sure if this is a proper discussion here or not...
@naturallyantonia3 жыл бұрын
Aww thank you so much Amber! You are so sweet! You brought up good points about soy. Whether consumed internally and/or used eternally it most certainly has an effect on our hormones, more specifically estrogen. My hair loves soy protein in moderation. In general most of my shampoos and conditioner do not contain soy. I eat tofu quite a bit. I'm careful about soy protein isolate because it tends to contain a lot of additives and is not always gmo free. My fiance does not eat soy other than fermented tofu once in awhile. When one is trying to balance hormones, I recommend an elimination diet and cut out soy and see how it makes them feel. In general most males should be cautious of soy. For females it's tricky because soy can certainly increase estrogen and its good to have in moderation, however some females may be low in estrogen and it may be beneficial. Soy isoflavones are also recommended for menopausal women. ❤️

Hey! You really give off a calming energy, I've subbed. :) Do you know if there are any scalp treatments that aren't oil based? My scalp is prone to getting oily, and anything oil based makes me nervous. I am using clarifying shampoo, and that has helped a bunch, but I'm also curious about the pre shampoo scalp treatment (if it's necessary for my hair type).
@naturallyantonia3 жыл бұрын
Aww thank you kindly! One of my favorite ways to exfoliate my scalp I forgot to mention is to add a spoonful of sugar, white or brown and mix with your favorite shampoo. As far as oil free scalp treatments like a pre poo, you can use Aloe vera gel and mix with tea tree oil if you want or a couple drops of your favorite essential oil. Just Aloe on its own is great for balancing the scalp making it perfect for greasy scalps. I stopped using oil on my scalp due to my oily scalp and my cyst adventure, so my routine is a little different from this video. Also if you are looking to purchase a good pre poo scalp treatment there is a Polish based brand called Sattva Aryeveda (sp) that is oil free and it's a scalp spray that is water/Aloe based with a lot of Ayurvedic herbs. 🙂❤️

What test did you have to check your hormones d
@naturallyantonia3 жыл бұрын
Hey Stacey at my doctor's we did a blood test and at my naturopath we did a saliva test. Hormones can certainly fluctuate depending on the cycle, but it gives you a good idea of what your overall trend is. I found out I'm estrogen dominant and my progesterone was on the low side. I believe I did it after I just finished my period for best results.

@@naturallyantonia Thanks. I have spent the last 18 months trimming and doing a lot of S and D as my hair was badly damaged from years of daily flat ironing. Also after menopause I lost a lot of hair. If I could get to tailbone length I would be a happy camper. I know my hair is growing as my bangs are growing out and now are two inches behind my ears but I may be one of those people whose hair only grows so long as this is the longest my hair has ever been. Anyway be safe. Di

Can you explain more on how to know about when your hair needs protein vs moisture?
@naturallyantonia2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, it may vary from person to person; in general your hair will feel gummy, sticky, limp and weighed down when you have too much moisture, getting some protein will help plump up the strands and help give your hair more body and strength. Conversely, when your hair is feeling dry, brittle, straw like, or stiff your hair has too much protein and needs moisture to help soften and give your hair shine and smoothness. Often times you need a combo of both. If you are interested in more, I made a video awhile back on this topic. :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGPPhnyHoNRmfbs
