Satin is a type of weave you can get fabrics in, it is shiny on one side and matte on the other, Polyester Satin is what you mean as the inexpensive option, because the silk pillowcases are also Silk Satin, there's also cotton satin but as you can guess, it's not as shiny or slippery.

Yessss!!! Silk bonnets make a WORLD of difference! I have almost NO split ends now, even 2-3 months after a trim! It’s actually pretty crazy and my hair is growing really fast after being stuck at a certain length forever. There’s a bunch of options to choose from on Amazon so they’re easy to get and not overly expensive (fake silk-aka polyester-works fine). Silk pillowcases are okay too but a bonnet is a lot better because it actually keeps the moisture in your hair. Also, if you use skin products at night, the silk pillow cases don’t breathe so can cause break outs...I learned that one the hard way :)

As I just cut my very long hair a few weeks ago, because it got really damaged, dry and I lost a lot of it over a couple of months, this video is really helpful! One thing I found particulary useful for my fine, dry, not processed hair is long term masking! I shampoo my scalp twice(like a double cleansing), then I apply mask or any other hydrating treatment and I leave it on for at least 45 min-1 hour. This trick made my hair less frizzy and is now an essential part in my journey to long and healthy hair!

I damaged my hair too much with bleach and I’ve been trying to repair it and I’m growing out my dark blonde/light brown with some grays mixed in, maybe like 10%. My natural hair is extremely ashy, bordering on gray I guess but I like it. I just cut off a few inches because I really couldn’t run my fingers through my hair and it looked and felt bad…dry and frizzy! I used a Demi-permanent light brown color to get rid of most of the ugly orangey tone that I had as well and now it blends in pretty well with my new growth. I’m so excited to finally grow out my 100% natural hair! I know it’s going to take 1-2 years but time will pass regardless! Great tips, so thanks beautiful lady!

As a hairdresser these tips are great! I love a silk pillowcase which you can find on amazon. At least to me they are all the same, but it’s great for creating less friction while you sleep! But some other tips are: 1) DON’T brush your hair wet! Use a wide tooth comb if anything. 2) DON’T sleep with your hair wet. Hair that is wet is more fragile and more likely to tangle so save yourself some time and length by making sure your hair is dry. 3) Massage that scalp BB and increasing blood flow is great for promoting growth! 4) if you have to blow dry, wait till your hair is at least 75% dry. As a hairstylist for a news company we rarely blow dry hair when it’s fully wet. It’s a lot more damaging and a waste of time. You can get a polished style with damp/almost dry hair 5) dry shampoo is your best friend but first use it when your hair is freshly washed and dried!! Like makeup you set it with powder to prolong the wear, allowing the oils to be absorbed as they come out. Similar to dry shampoo you want to create that base instead of loading up when you’re already greasy....Trust me on this it’s a game changer. But I totally feel for all the hairstylists out there who have been affected by Covid. I have been out of work since March and have had to try changing career paths. If your salon is open, even if you don’t feel comfortable going in buying something as small as a gift certificate can change help! IG: Sandra_otrkne

Then I lucked out and found a Slip brand pillowcase at TJMaxx and I will never go back!!! Since I started using it my lashes don't keep an annoying tight curl on the outer edge (I'm a side sleeper), I don't have any creasing on my face from my pillow and my skin feels like it has held more moisture throughout the night, and I no longer have any bedhead or tangles!! Pillowcases: I have satin and Poly-satin pillowcases that I have been using for about a year or so now. Silk is just too hard to clean and care for. I do love the poly-satin cases, though. Amazon is wonderful for that. There are cases that are 100% satin (even though, they look very dull and not that soft) that actually work great for my hair. I also either put my hair in ponies or braids but I am such a light sleeper that I wake up fighting with my hair because they do get to be uncomfortable. Other than that, I leave my hair down, most of the time. If I do put it up there's this sort of clip that looks like a plastic bobby pin with a curled end that I love and it takes less stress/pull on my hair. I realize that this is late to party, so to speak, but thanks for the info. Good luck in your journey!

You can try coconut oil, it's best for my hair. My hair is 3b, so it's dry and now my hair is nourished so it is soft and has become wavy hair not curly like before. This is the way I use it: Before wash hair, I use one spoon of coconut oil for my hair (the coconut I use is liquid because I live in Viet Nam). This is really important, you use enough amount coconut oil, depending on the volume and length of your hair. If over it's hard to wash and maybe make your hair oily. My hair is over my shoulder a little bit. After 30 minutes, wash your hair two times, and finally always use condition to clear hair, if not hair is always oily.

I like you!! This is my first time watching and I really like you, you're honest, funny and one of the most real people on KZbin, thank you so much!! You had me hooked when you said the key to growing your hair long is.... "Patience" and I thought "oh yes!! At last, we have honesty!" I think you have beautiful hair, so I shall be subscribing and watching and learning. Thank you again, stay safe and well at this difficult time 😘💋❤

I am going through my mullet year right now.. Why is it, that everytime you cut your hair, you suddenly want it long again? The struggle is real 😂😂 @xcaroline94

I know you already know this but your hair now looks amazing. So naturally gorgeous. Bravo. Mine was bleached & colored to death, broke off, melted off. Its very short and brown again. I look forward to getting naturally healthy hair again BUT... Still gonna be coloring some grays it will not be nearly as damaging as the bleach was. Thanks for the great video!
