I love that black woman are taking the time to learn how to grow and take care of their hair in any state they choose because they are queens and I'm sick of people assuming that they can't naturally grow long hair

Please Read :) : Yes relaxers can be dangerous if you misuse them just like a lot of things. The problem occurs when people allow the relaxer to sit for to long or use a strength that is too strong which causes burns and allows the sodium hydroxide (the active chemical) to penetrate the skin. As long as you follow instructions they are okay to use. Hair dye also isn't good for you, especially black hair dye. Should we all stop dyeing our hair too? Everyone already knows relaxers aren't the best thing for hair which is why I make sure to look after it. The assumption that relaxing hair is about self hate is nonsense If you genuinely want to inform me about the health risks (even though I already know) that's fine, but if you are coming to try and convince me to go "natural" then I don't wanna hear it. It's hair... cut it off it'll grow back, bleach it, dye it, whatever. This video is for people who have relaxed hair and want to retain length and keep it healthier. It is not up for people to force opinions on others. This whole Natural vs. Relaxed thing is ridiculous, the term "natural" even gets on my nerves. There are bigger problems in the world. The energy you use to criticise others can be put to better use. How about we fight for education or equal rights. Just saying, it's all love x

I remebered my first time getting a relaxer and ppl told me I would lose all my hair and it'll break and just every bad thing. They made me regret what I done. but my mom is a hair stylist and she took of my hair and made sure not to put heat in my hair too often. I am happy to say that my hair grew long and the ppl telling me all the horrible things were the ones saying:"Nice hair." "Omg ur hair is soo long" "is that your real hair?" Each hair type is different and just because when other ppl put perm in their hair and it doesn't work out, doesn't mean it won't work for other ppl. You need to take care of your hair. I have been doing this for two years and my hair is long. The whole "perm ruins ur hair." depends on how well you take care of your hair. Just like natural girls have to use products to maintain strong healthy hair, so do us perm girls and my hair has been better then ever. Don't get me wrong, when I got my perm it was never about wanting to have white girl hair. It's just that I ALWAYS loved straight hair. I look good and my hair is healthy. So stop the hate about perm hair. Only ppl who used perm and didn't take care of it correctly are mad. Then again, it isn't your hair.

You can’t ever have HEALTHY relaxed hair. That’s an oxymoron if ever I heard it. Relaxer BREAKS the bonds of your hair in order to achieve the straight feel and look desired. Thus something that is broken needs to be fixed, hence the high level of care one must take in order to stop excessive breakage that one gets because of the weakened state the hair is in. Relaxed hair can be well looked after, well maintained but never healthy. Simply because the science 🧪 behind the relaxer is designed to damage the hair to achieve its end.
@castelinekennedy1912

@@francescapowell1538 so does the sun, wind, heat, clothes, coloration... Some bonds are broken but that doesnt mean relaxed hair is automatically unhealthy... she is (or was) the proof....
@francescapowell1538
@francescapowell1538 4 жыл бұрын
Casteline Kennedy Ok, well the sun damages your skin if you do not protect it and in some cases can lead to cancer.. just because skin looks tanned and pretty doesn’t mean it’s healthy. I could go on. However let’s stick to the hair. I can guarantee that relaxed hair is more unhealthy than even the worst kept natural hair simply by the process it took to get it straight in the first place. Here’s the science behind that or proof if you like : kzbin.info/www/bejne/ioTSmnuKh7hjotE please view up till the science part literally only a few seconds in. Now where’s the proof/science that even with all the lotions and potions in the world that relaxed hair is and will ever be truly healthy after that. There is nothing that can repair damaged ends except for cutting them off. There are serums that can smooth them but not reapir term and make that healthy again, so why would hair that has been treat aggressively with a harsh chemical placed upon it be healthy in the truest sense of the word “Healthy”.

Thank you so much for being PRO-relaxer! I absolutely love the natural hair trend but it has brought a bad name to relaxers. I understand that relaxers have many chemicals, but just like color treatments you have to know how to take care of it. So thank you for being you, and showing girls to not be afraid of relaxers!!

I'm so glad you made this video, I'm not a fan of being natural. This just shows you ladies that you can have very healthy relaxed hair. Years ago, females were all for relaxers. Now they act like your hair is unhealthy if it's relaxed NO! Relaxed or natural if you don't properly take of your hair it will break off period. And all these females keep talking about natural is better and you should love your roots but most females don't even wear their natural hair. They cover it up with weave so... & TBH your hair is way longer than any female I've seen that's natural. No shade ! But keep doing you love. You hair is FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!

Keniesha Peoples a weave is mostly used as a protective style. relaxers aren't good for your hair, it's a chemical. That's just a fact, chemical alterations aren't healthy in any situation, even those not related to hair. You can love relaxed hair but you don't have to shame natural hair in order to do that. There are lots of women with long natural hair, and we get to enjoy the diversity that comes with it. And unlearning the European standards of beauty we were taught. it's hair, it'll always be hair. however natural hair has a special place in the black community, that's not shaming relaxed hair. it's the truth, because natural hair is mocked in the black community. Relaxed hair is not. Either way, love what's on your head without shaming someone else's.

I agree that no one should be telling her to go natural. Let people do what they want with their hair, period. But to say: "Your hair is way longer than any female I've seen that's natural." is false. There are so many natural girls on youtube with longer hair than that. For some of them, you don't see it until they straighten it, but some like, Chime (Haircrush), her hair is longer and thicker than that even unstraightened.

Hi from 🇧🇷. I am 51 years old. I use relaxer on my hair since forever every 4 months. My hair is healthy, shine, grows crazy and I do wash twice a week and DC every time. I avoid heat as much as I can but I flat iron once a week. Then making the long story short: we just need to take care the scalp and the hair itself with attention and care needed. People do crazy stuff on hair using all kind of junk, pulling, not doing what is supposed to do.. I am glad you have this kind of video because the natural trend believes only them can have a nice and healthy hair..

It is healthy and I perm it every five or six weeks and I have been using blue magic coconut hair grease and it is very healthy and I also never cut or trimmed my hair I don't see the need. I also wash it twice a week and roll it maybe four times and my hair is healthy. People be telling me to go natural and I look at there hair and I look at mine and I say "no thank you"

Doing the natural thing just wasn't for me because every other three days I got to keep putting more heat on my hair because I said I prefer to wear my hair straight....so that was a problem for me. Every other three day I am washing and silk pressing...I got sick of that.... I happily went back to my relaxer because I know how to do them right.... my hair do grow very long with relaxers because like I said I know how to do them....Now with the natural doing I found myself having to cut and cut... So that was getting on my nerves too... Plus with silk press you don't want to put a lot of product on your hair.... and so that what led to me having to wash it every 3 days because my hair is like extra dry....now with the relaxer my hair is very much more moisturized.... now I'm back to just putting heat on my hair once a month, and it's way easier for me to wear a protective Style.... I only tried doing the natural hair styling because I always hear my sister talking about and got tired of her whining to me about changing.... what I've learned is that works for her not me...

My mom relaxed my hair when I was in school, I really didn't have a say so what I know now I wish I knew then so I could have stayed natural. But I have come to a decision to stay relaxed until I die or unless my health is threatened by it. And btw all naturalistas your products also have chemicals in them as well.......STOP JUDGING!!!!!!

As a natural I find that a good number of black women go back and forth between having relaxed hair and natural. This girl transitioned from relaxed to natural. I was once one of those naturals who told relaxed haired women to go natural. Nowadays I fall back. At some point they go natural on their own anyway. Me if I want my hair straight I get a silk-press. There's actually a woman named Janay Mickles on KZbin who do silk presses. Her customers hair be looking softer, sleeker, and shinier than any relaxed haired woman. But if a black woman wants a relaxer that's her choice. Hair care is key.

There are do many factors to safe relaxing that many ppl miss. If you decide to relax this time, avoid relaxing bone straight. Get it relaxed. Second thing is, avoid no-lye. It dries out the hair and you have to fight tooth and nail everyday to moisturize it. Get a professional mild lye relaxer. Third thing, after you neutralize and wash it out, you need French stabilizer plus. That will bring your hair's pH back to its normal level and moisture. Alot of people overlook that and is the reason they get dry hair. Final thing is deep conditioning weekly and greasing or oiling your ends. These are basic tips that will keep your strands strong and your relaxed hair should thrive.

Great video!! I use Affirm. It is very gentle. I try to stretch for at least 4-5 months. Try to relax 2x a year as well, max 3X. Once I see excessive shedding and too many tangles then its time. I do buns and cornrows. Clip-in extensions help a lot to do protective styles. I use the argan oil conditioner in place of gel on my edges, but I need a stronger gel when I have more new growth.

Hi Racheal. Thank you so much for doing this video. It has helped me a lot and I'm getting better results at home with the OGX products than the Keracare that they use in the salon. I find after shampoo and a good long conditioning with OGX my hair is so silky soft. I'm more happy with my hair now managing it at home than going and spending £80 in the salon for a relax and treatment. I use silky hair ties and Lucy bees coconut oil, Morocco penetrating oil and the oil fusion. Absoulety love them. My hair is so healthy now and never dry and brittle like before. I tried "natural" hair, been there done that, cried everyday just to comb and detangle it. I know Natural hair is defiantly not for me, so I will be sticking with my relaxed hair for an EXTREAMLY long-time to come. Thanks so much again for your tips x

I’ve used relaxer since high school and the key is condition your hair with a good conditioner every time you wash your hair. I go under the dryer with my treatments and that’s how your able to have healthy hair with a relaxer.

So happy i found you! New subbie ;) I've followed most of your tips the past year already and have seen amazing results. Coconut oil is my go-to, protective styles is a must and a 2-time a year relaxer with lots of washing + conditioning in-between is great advice. I relax 3 times a year and use Affirm, I find this relaxer works beautifully for me. My hair is in a weave now but can't wait to take it out & try some of these products. Thanks for the tips!x

I was watching another video, yours popped up, got my attention talking about hair relaxers, refreshing to hear someone in the UK talking about growing relaxed hair. You are so on point, much of the time why relaxed hair doesn't grow, is because the relaxer product has been misused on the hair, over lapping etc. I am not saying that because I make a great relaxer product but because, some people believe if the product its burning it not working, so not true. timing is everything when using a relaxer product, getting it on should time 8-10mins - 5 mins the work it through and smooth the roots before rinsing an following up with good reconstructions products, like the ones in your video. Well done!

hey I'm a 14 year old natural who started being natural just last year November so my hair is actually very short I feel that it's dumb when people , when Naturals talk about people who have perms or relaxers or anything like that about how this is damaging to the hair when some Naturals do things that are damaging to their hair such as dying or just using too much heat. but I've never heard of someone who had a perm or relaxer who said something about a natural hair so natural should do y'all the same way because we all got here hair on our head we all just trying to take care of it. What's the problem.

It is NOT a myth that black people's hair doesn't need to be washed as often as others'. Our scalp produces less sebum and the texture of our hair means that was IS produced isn't distributed as easily. You recommend washing/co-washing weekly as "often". That in itself show that it is no myth. I have white and Asian friends whose hair gets visibly greasy if they don't wash at least every other day - for some of them it is every day. If I didn't wash my hair for a YEAR, and didn't put any oils, leave-ins etc. on it, it would probably get DRY rather than greasy.

One of my cousins and best friends has been doing the same for a few years now and her hair got as long as her weaves-18" (which she often used as a protective style in between perms). Her hair grew long but wasn't as soft as you'd think it'd feel when you see it... But again that might also be an isolated case because we all have different types of hair. Bw to get back to this video - I loved all the explanations and I can also add that all these products from the organx line used to, and still work for my natural hair.

im glad you made a whole video about this and spoke about it. imma speak about it on my channel too because you can relax your hair and get perms. it just depends how often you relax your hair/get perms, what you eat and what hair products help your hair type to grow. my hair has grown and I hadn't relaxed my hair in 6 months. I started air drying my hair during the summer which caused me to use less heat and maintain an essential hair creme called anti-breakage strengthening creme which helps grows your hair, ends and moisturizes your hair. I also do deep condition after shampoo once a week. there are lots of things you can do to grow your relaxed hair and honesty relaxed hair and natural hair go hand in hand because you go natural and get your hair relaxed again and go back to being natural which I see nothing wrong with it. The point is just to love your hair, do what's best for your hair and what's you know is best for you and don't worry about what anyone else says embrace other women's hair while also embracing your own. a few hair tips that hopefully will help my black women who get relaxers or have relaxed hair. •get a perm every 4-6 months (by the time you get a perm, you'll be surprised at the growth afterwords •don't brush your hair when it's wet •rinse water out of your hair, apply oil after conditioner I think? •apply grease, oil to your hair once it's halfway air dryed •when using heat, use protective heat styling products •wear protective hairstyles if you can or just rock your hair how it is, straight or curly •use coconut oil, argan oil, olive oil, shea butter, coconut butter •I personally use olive oil, anti breakage strengthening creme and argan oil YOU, YOUR SKIN AND YOUR HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL. I'm 15 now and I'm planning to relax my hair as soon as I get out of braids because there's one style that I really want but it requires straight hair. I've never had a relaxer because I grew up knowing that they were bad for you and that you should never get them. So many natural girls go from extremely unhealthy relaxed hair to beautiful natural hair and they always say "Stop relaxing" but then again they just had a very bad relaxing experience. You and many other KZbinrs proved that you can have beautiful, long, and healthy relaxed hair. Now I'm not afraid to get one.

I do like my hair, its just that I want it to be a little thicker. I've been researching a lot lately on how to get thicker relaxed hair, and every website/video has told me to stretch my relaxers. I currently relax my hair every 8 weeks (I get it professionally done). If I even go 9 weeks without a relaxer, my hair breaks off tremendously....

I'm without relaxer going on 8 years. It's not for me but your hair is beautiful. I'm one of those naturals that say hey , whatever suits you suits you! I agree that it is a myth that kinkier textures shouldn't be washed as often. I wash my hair every 5-7 days and deep condition every time, unless it's in braids which I only keep 2-3 weeks.. Many are just misinformed, our hair has build up etc just as any other hair type. The blood flow in the scalp needs to be stimulated, which happens with washes etc..Your accent is also beautiful. Blessings Queen.
