Thanks for this - we're starting our microgreens next month! Just set up the new greenhouse and I've been going mad deciding whether or not to add aquaponics in the basement under a grow light as well.
@NaturesAlwaysRight4 жыл бұрын
No problem, hope what I've learned can save others time and hassle. Oo that's a tuff decision that would be a fun set up. If it's for your business I'd consider the expensive up front cost that won't be payed back nearly as fast as a microgreens business investment.

Nice Shane, ya you can't go wrong with micros best tasting most nutritious greens around that are also a great farm product.
@OldReddingFarm4 жыл бұрын
cool a lot of good info. What do you do with all your soil after you harvest? Does that become waste? can it get reused at all?
@NaturesAlwaysRight4 жыл бұрын
I'll show that in pt 2 but it all goes to my chickens, which are my soil creators for my market garden. If I didn't have chickens I would just compost it normally.

I'm new to growing microgreens, just got my seeds from True Leaf Market a couple of weeks ago. Should I use a heating mat for seed germination? I'm in MA and we keep the house around 68-70 degrees F. Thanks for all the great videos!

Thank you so much for making this video Stephen! @15:50 You talk about mold. Would I first cut/pull out the effected greens before I add the new top soil?
@NaturesAlwaysRight4 жыл бұрын
I've tried both, and it works best to just completely cover mold, greens, and all with soil. Totally fixes the problem.

Do you seed all the trays on the same day? Thanks Steve love your stuff
@NaturesAlwaysRight4 жыл бұрын
I seed the pea/sunflower 2-3 days before the dry small seeds in the winter. In summer that time window gets closer because of heat and light so I plant the soaked seeds 1-2 days before the dry. NP, hope that helps!
@westlakefarms4 жыл бұрын
Steven, do you clean an sterilize your trays in between each seeding? Thanks for all the great info over the years, Happy New Year!
@NaturesAlwaysRight4 жыл бұрын
I don't, I'm always experimenting with doing the least steps to save time haha. I always let them sit in the sun and air to sterile. At most I'll spray them off with water then let sit in sun. If I was gonna take the time I'd just use at least 5% vinegar or 10-12% hydrogen peroxide. A lot of people use bleach I think that's overkill especially if you breathe it or get it on your skin.
@westlakefarms4 жыл бұрын
Thanks...I agree with not using bleach....I have ben rinsing my tray and then spraying with H2O2,and that seems to be working ,growing inside under LED light.
