Ey man! What a nice collection of genetics!!! Mind blown!!! Nice video and lots of useful info. One thing I wanted to point out is that you may be affecting the whole point of the Laminar Flow by doing work behind other materials that are first row in the LFH. Keep it up! Cheers.

I've only tried spore print to Petri once. After a month and a half some type of nasty finally took hold. Never got mycelium like a clone dish. Not sure why nothing grew for a solid month. 4:36 4:39

My favorite swab is a long stem because Emmy hand doesn’t hover over the plate

Do you notice an increase/decrease in growth time from parafilm v. Heat shrink? I’ve Been wanting to switch to heat shrink on a cost basis but I’ve heard some die Garda say that the air flow that you get from parafilm aids in mycelium growth. Just looking for your input! Thanks for the great content as always

Hey 10nazz we have been using shrink bands for exactly 1 year yesterday 9/1. From my observations I have to report that I have not experienced any slowing of growth. I would be inclined to say that if slow grow is setting in, it has to do with the mushroom culture itself. as mycelium ages it goes through a cycle late in its life called Senescence, biological aging, it is the gradual deterioration of functional characteristics in living organisms. At that point a younger sample will have to be worked acquired. Another thing that comes to mind would be the media being used. Its good practice to switch media recipes every 5-6 months to keep the mycelium "on its toes" it would be like someone eating saltine cracker for over 6 months, there wouldn't be excitement to eat, lols. some people use cling wrap for plates and that material is also not breathable. There is enough oxygen inside the plate to aid mycelial growth for about 2 weeks. If one plans for long term storage slants should be considered. I hope this answers your question, Cheers ff:)

How necessary is the sealing of the plates in a home grow environment? Is there an cheaper option than heat gun? Thanks ! ✨⚡️🌈💥🎈
@PickingFruits2 жыл бұрын
Hey Marcus, that's a good question, and the answer to that is definitely. Sealing of plates is a always good practice even in a laboratory setting where cleanliness is heightened. I would urge you to seal plates in a home setting because the probability of airborne contaminants of all kinds, including molds and bacteria is more likely. The most common thing used for sealing plates is Parafilm, but as we speak, the roll is hitting at about 50 USD. things that can be used that can be acquired cheaply would be plastic food grade cling wrap from any big box store. Alternatively you can use painters tape and grafting tape although common I could not tell you their cost. :)

Nice video but you shouldn't obstruct the air flow of your work space.
