I’ve gained a lot of followers through reels. These followers follow a couple thousand people (sometimes up to 6k people). I don’t feel like most of them see my stuff. I don’t get a lot of comments on my posts. I feel like going viral isn’t really worth it, is it? Has anyone any tips on how to get real engagement? (For context, I’m a character artist and post stuff about my comic and sometimes fan art) As an introvert, I feel like it’s really hard to connect with my followers. How do I get them to really interact and not just like my content, without changing what I draw?

Talking about your process and inviting questions can be a good way to start. It can feel cold to start with but as soon as you get comfortable with it, it starts to feel more natural.

Thanks for this. Our account had the extreme version of what you described getting 98 million views with one reel on Instagram. The result was 100k followers within 30 days and completely changed the audience on the account. We actually just created a KZbin video on this exact topic and agree wholeheartedly with what you said. There are definitely negative consequences much like how there are negative consequences after winning the lottery. Thanks again for your insight.

I'm old so this makes me think of Newspapers. The front page splash -vs- 'Your' news delivered by the paperboy. The splash is what makes even your Nan pick up today's edition of a tabloid - and you'll never hear the end of it about her shock at the half naked girl on the 3rd page. 'Your' news, on the other hand - well you'll wonder about the paperboy if the paper isn't on the doormat in the morning.
