Beautiful and lovely! I’m in zone 7b and grew seeds last fall. I had flowers all winter thru freezing ice and 8in of snow then I trimmed them back the end of Feb and are surprisingly thriving with huge flowers. I plant them all in fabric grow bags except one combo flower pot in a plastic bowl. It’s struggling so I’ll try putting it in a fabric pot to see what happens. I’m a less than novice gardener so if Anything survives me is a miracle. Even my husband calls me an accidental gardener. Thank you for taking the time to share.

Love Pansies and grow a few punnets every year. Haven't grown my own yet. But was frustrated with last year's store brought one's. They were leggy not like the usual ones I've grown.

yes, it is convenient and quicker to get seedlings from store, but growing from seeds is very fun and rewarding. Avoid nitrogen rich soil for a less leggy plants. Thank you very much for your comment!

Wonderful! I started my flowering journey with the most easiest to grow, sunflowers. After having a huge success, i started on celosia plumosa, carnations, cosmos, all of those are one hardy flowers and survived quite awhile. But, afterwards got infested by caterpillars. Didnt stop my journey though and now iam looking to expand my collection on flowers. My next would be pansy, it look like some kind of grumpy grandpa, but i like it perosnally!

I just used your Amazon link to add the 6 inch plastic orange pots. Where can I buy the green seed starter in this video? Do you sell the wooden soil tamper? What size is the squares in the soil screener? 1/8"? 1/4"? 1/2"? etc? Is that soil sifter sold online if someone does not have the home workshop to build one? I did not see the orange 6-cell seed tray. What is the watering holding tray under the 6 cell?

Hi! Thank you for supporting my amazon page 😊 The green seed tray is from Greenhouse megastore www.greenhousemegastore.com/collections/trays-flats/products/mini-seed-tray-with-holes?_pos=45&_fid=312d1194b&_ss=c . You can find similar tray on IKEA too, just need to add holes www.ikea.com/us/en/p/nojig-organizer-plastic-beige-70457487/ . The square soil sifter, I made it myself. The mesh size is 1/4". Depending on how much you want to spend, you can find similar sifters on amazon amzn.to/3weVaIb , or amzn.to/3OFS2es . The orange trays is from my local garden center, sorry I don't have a link but any 2"x2" seed tray will work. And the watering tray is from IKEA which apparently is being discontinued. Here is a similar item on amazon amzn.to/4bNukqS . Hope this helps and thank you for your support.

So glad you like them. I don't have an indoor setup like grow light. I usually keep my seed trays in a shed like room in my backyard until seeds germinate. If it is too cold, a heat mat is occasionally used. As soon as they pop out, I move them outside in indirect sunlight (under a patio umbrella), or 3-4 hours of direct early morning sunlight. I will bring them inside at nights if temperature drops below 40-50F (5-10C). Happy growing and and thank you so much for your comment!😊

@TowardGarden

Check video @1:18 where I included the temperature 62-68F (16-20C) . The seeds need light to germinate, if outdoor, then avoid direct sunlight. Put seed tray in a part shade or under a shade cloth. Hope this helps and Thank you so much for your comment!

thank you for this video. i do have one question tought because i find contary information online. do they need darkness or can i keep them on a window sill for them to germinate? this is my first time trying to plant them and i have used the wet paper towel methond for about 4 days now for one pack. and the plating mehtod for about 3 days for a second pack. while my geranium has sprouted in the wet towel , still waiting for the pansies. thank you! have a nice day.
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 3 ай бұрын
Glad you liked the video. I haven't tried the wet towel method for pansy so I cannot comment on that, but the key is to sow seeds on surface and cover them very lightly. Light will help germination so I am not sure if keeping them in dark will be ok. If you did sow seeds on surface, then they should germinate on the window sill (usually in 5-8 days). Hope this helps. Happy growing and thank you so much for your comment!

How much were you watering before you transplanted and then after?
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 11 ай бұрын
Watering depends on the weather. For both stages the key is to keep the soil moist, but not soggy. I usually water my plants (and seedlings) every other day. If it is hot, I water my pots every day. hope this helps and thank you for visiting!

Here in south Mississippi it's 88 today. Last year I planted outside and it took forever to come up. I read something about putting in refrigerator would speed up germination. Any advice. Ty
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 4 ай бұрын
Pansy prefers cool weathers, so putting in refrigerator will increase the chance of the germination, but I doubt it will speed it up. If you were able to germinate the seeds, then I think you can skip the fridge step. If you have a mild winter, start seeds in fall to have plants large enough to successfully overwinter and bloom in early spring. But if winters are cold, start early indoors about 2 1/2 months before last spring frost. Also remember to cover very lightly (providing a strong light source) and keep moist and cool 55-60°F. Hope you will have beautiful flowers by the spring. Happy growing and Thank you so much for your comment!

I thought pansy seeds need darkness to germinate. I didn't see seeds placed in darkness in the video. I live in the San Francisco south bay area and have never had success with germinating pansy seeds with or without light.

The key is to sow seeds on surface and cover them very lightly (1/8"), don't bury them too deep . And the soil temperatures should be maintained 65-70ºF. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting.

Hello. back with another question :D. i finally managed to make them sprout (i got different seeds wich worked great) problem is they are veeery leggy compared to yours when they sprout (very tall) and they don't develop futher leaves(just the first two set of leaves and a very long stem). what might be the problem? i keep them on a window sill so light should not be a problem. did i plant them not deep enough? just added a small layer of soil. is it over wattering? thank you for your help!
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 ай бұрын
Leggy seedlings are most probably due to light. Window sill may not provide ample light, so you need to either use grow light or just expose them to 5-6 hours of early morning sunlight. And start fertilizing them lightly. For how to fertilize them check my video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3rImnVpZt54gNksi=Ll1-0CWVPFX9raFj&t=202 . When transplanting them, just plant them deeper to bury part of the stem. Hope your seedlings will thrive. Happy growing!
