After trying several times in the past, I have finally grown a pineapple plant. I left it alone for the most part and looked at it about every day when planting vegetables and caring for them. Then I was delighted to see that it was growing! It is in a 2 gallon flower pot, no special soil, and has been in the the sun all summer. We've had a very hot summer and I have watered when needed, almost daily. Should I leave it in the pot or plant it in the ground. We sometimes get frost and freeze around Jan-Feb. I'm in coastal SC. Thanks for all the wonderful information on this site.

Just a little heads up: while its easy to grow another plant out of the fruit, this new plant will take a long time to bear a fruit. Under ideal conditions(very warm and high humidity) it will take at least a year until the plant blooms(it can take up to 3 or 4 years). A fruit will grow out of this flower in around 6 months. Bear in mind that the new fruit won't get ripe if it doesn't grow in the right condition.

Hello Friend, To induce the bloom and fruit of the Pineapple: That's a common and important practice for the commercial exploration of avocador, taking in view that production based on natural bloom is uncertain and unevenly. The purpose is to uniform the flourish and frutification by focusing the harvest in a short period and of better economic perspective. It also serves to distribute production for a few months, in function of looking for fruit. The most used substance is the calcium carbureto, which can be prepared as follows: in a canister with capacity for 20 liters and with a lid, they put themselves 12 liters of clean and cold water, and then 50 to 60 grams of calcium carbureto; you close the lid well and shake the canister, until you no longer hear the effervescence or hiss of the reaction. Soon after, you place the water with the carbureto in a other canister that has a hose, or else in a costal sprayer that the nozzle takes from (to avoid pressure in the liquid), and it applies 50 ml of the solution (more or less a coffee cup) in the plant's "eye". Carry out very carefully and protection ok.

@@WorldClik Thanks friend, much appreciated. I grow all kinds of different things. I have 2 avocado trees I started from seed 4 1/2 years ago. They will be 5 years old in November. That’s when I put them in soil. They are now taller than me and in 5 gallon pots. I’ve pruned them very uniquely. Well thanks again for all the help and as always. Happy Growing 👍🏽👍🏽

In which season or weather do pineapples grow better?
@WorldClik3 жыл бұрын
Juliet! Environment Although the temperature range of 22 ° C to 32 ° C is the most suitable for the cultivation of the pineapple, the plant also develops in regions with variations between 5 ºC and 40 ° C. However, it does not tolerate frosts.
