I have one about 5 feet tall. I propagated it 20+ years ago from a cutting. I have mine next to a fence, with Cape Town Honeysuckle, Shell Ginger, nestled in between all of that. Pretty low maintenance and produces pretty flowers

We gave ours a very hard prune, from 7ft down to 1ft. Two years later it is flowering well. And yes we took cuttings as well - All of them took...... As you say a great low maintenance plant.

You know, you can go to Google on your cell phone. On the right hand-side, inside the search area, you will see a camera, click on that, widen the screen, take a pic of anything you want to know about : flowers, plant, shoes, dress, anything. It'll give you pics and names/brands etc of what you are looking at. I myself only discovered that a year ago.

Last year I had a dark purple tree one on the east side of my house. It was doing great and around August it started dying. Maybe I overwatered it. I had left it in the original container that I bought it in. I bought a Tecoma Stans (yellow bells) at the same time and it even tried to bloom over the winter in my west facing window. I just came home from Home Depot with this year's Princess Flower, and if you have any advice, I don't want to repeat last year. I had a soil tester and though it looked wilted, the soil never seemed to dry out. This year I was planning on putting it in a container with perlite added to Miracle-Gro potting soil. Hoping!

Most likely the soil in the original container was not that great and its a common problem.. A good quality potting mix with a little perlite should be better. MOST plants like a wet dry cycle, water well and then let the soil dry a little before watering again. This allow the roots to breath.... Let us know how it goes..

Can I have it in my livingroom year round? It stays around 20 degrees celcius there. Otherwise I don't think I have a proper way to store it during winter. How many / few degrees can it stand?

Without seeing the plant and where it is growing we can only guess. This is a plant that likes a slightly acidic soil, so check the soil ph. Also check soil moisture, not to wet and soggy and not dry either. ALSO some of the new dwarf varieties tend to do this in the first year or two. Another factor is very hot afternoon sun, a little afternoon shade in hot areas is often needed.

It depends on which variety you are growing as to what the problem is. Some of the dwarf varieties seem to do this in the first year or two. Also they do like slightly acidic soil, so you could check the soil pH. MOST LIKELY is lack of water - Check the soil for moisture, if it is to dry and the weather is hot this will happen. Also where are you located and is the plant in full sun, ours gets some afternoon shade and thrives.
