Hi ,I have a spinless yucca and I cut a pup off fairly good size and put it in well draining cactus soil mix and it's not rooting ,it's actually dying . The leaves are curling in and look like poles,what should I do. Thank you

Thank you for this, very informative, ive got one making a whole mess in back garden, so i potted it and was getting yellow/brown tips, maybe im over watering?

Your welcome. If you live in the UK and it lives outside I would suggest only watering it when it is very dry. They don't really need watering. I have one in a pot outside and I haven't watered it yet this year. The less you water them, the better they seem to do.

I was given some yucca plants from my mother in law. When i got them home i noticed that there was a root system but no plant, can i plant that as well will it grow from that? Also was given with theses plants that brown wood looking piece, do i dry that out and re plat that as well?
@PhillWyattProjects7 ай бұрын
Yes that should work. I have cut a Yucca to the ground over and over again and they still seem to pop back up because they store a lot of energy in the roots and trunk.

What about if I transplant them in October straight into the ground and then it’s winter from Nov-March? Will they rot or do I need to intervene?
@PhillWyattProjects Жыл бұрын
That might work if the winter is mild with no frosts or snow. I would suggest waiting until the end of spring before transplanting.

do those vase shaped pots makes it difficult to get them out and repot them?
@PhillWyattProjects3 жыл бұрын
Not at all. Very easy to remove from this shape of pot.

Hey thanks for this helpful video! I have found a whole yucca tree abandoned alongside the street and I think it has been damaged too... Is there any way of saving it? If I cut the middle part and take the top of the plant to grow it after removing a few leaves, should be fine and rooted??
@PhillWyattProjects3 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes that sounds fine. Remember to let is dry out for a while. Drying it out will help to activate the roots rather than rotting it as it will be holding water. Have patients it should grow. Don't water it.

I have a few questions. If I buy a Yucca-Root from my local grocery store, I can cut pieces off it ,and do the same thing ? My other question is, I do not live in a tropical area. I live in North East Pennsylvania between n.e. Philadelphia and Trenton, Nj. Is this something I have to grow in a container, or can I throw it in a well aerated loose soil ? I have a green thumb, and pretty much have grown almost every vegetable available including 2 fig tree's that produce Alot of fruit. I got out of gardening for over 3 years but I'm getting the itch back to garden again. This time, I want to add vegetables I never thought about growing like this Yucca root. Thank you for your response 🙏
