So happy I found this , been doing a lot of research about soap without lye but many seem to believe you can only cleanse your skin with soap which consist of lye. Then I came across cleansing bars which is heavily used in other countries such as Africa and the Middle East. In the process of launching a cosmetic line and looking forward to adding a cleansing bar to the list! Thank you!

Thank you for sharing this recipe. I tweaked the recipe and included rosehip powder and an emulsifier, vitamin e and a preservative. I use this bar as a cleanser every morning. It's gorgeous but a bit messy to apply.

Yes, I think the Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate would be brilliant in this and it can be solubilized in the melted oil and butter. (www.essentialwholesale.com/product/2767/sodium-cocoyl-isethionate-powder)

Can I substitute the coco butter with more Shea butter and beeswax or add in stearic acid to make it a bit harder?
@EssentialLabsOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you could remove the cocoa altogether and add more butter, and give the wax or fatty alcohol a shot. The best part of product making, is the experimentation. So have fun!

Sure. Kaolin is much finer than bentonite, so your cleansing bar might feel a little grittier, but I see no reason that wouldn’t work.

I would like to know how to use them? And when to use them while taking a shower? If you could just explain to me, if you don’t mind. Because my mother in law was just asking me if it was possible to creat for her a cleansing bar that is made from butters and oils.
@EssentialLabsOfficial5 жыл бұрын
Hi there, great question! You would use this as you would a bar of soap in the shower or bath. Simply apply to wet skin, to cleanse. The Kaolin Clay is what acts as the cleanser. All other ingredients work to nourish and replenish the skin.

If wanted lather or bubbles without adding surfactant (natural or not), what would I use? Thanks
@HelloWakeUp92 жыл бұрын
You have to have a surfactant for bubbles. Even lotions contain a small portion of surfactant of some kind in the emulsifier. Surfactants or soap for bubbles.

@@EssentialLabsOfficial Oh great! How does the bar hold up, does it crumble or become sticky or does it stay intact until it is used up? I'm assuming you need to keep it dry between uses. What hairtypes will it work for? Mine is very fine, curly and a bit dry and frizzy. :D
@mrembo255 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't you need a preservative for these as they are going to be in contact with water? Seems strange that there's none.
@EssentialLabsOfficial5 жыл бұрын
Hi there! You can certainly add a preservative. However, after 6 weeks of being in a shower environment there are no signs of bacteria, yeast, or mold activity.
