I’ve been practicing the hand launching/landing. I lightly hold from the bottom, double click the orange button, and let its own lifting raise out of my hand. For landing I bring it in low, and gently grab from the top, and without putting up/down pressure press the orange land till the beep and it does the land and stay steady until the motors shut off. Sometimes, it wants to fly again and accelerates to liftoff, and repeat second time, and it works. ALWAYS being sure to keep hands clear no matter! I never tried or like the grab and twist.🇺🇸

I started practicing that more because most of my launches are from dusty, dry grassy areas. I have concerns about putting that ‘twist’ of torque on the props/motors, or even. Effecting the gyros/GPS systems. With my Mini 3 and 4 Pro I’ve gotten accustomed to regular hand launches. The foldable landing pads aren’t always convenient either. Appreciate your great training for me!

Hey Justin. Thanks for the great videos for the avata 2. You are making the life of a noob much easier. Do you have a video where you talk how to deal with windy conditions? Also do you ever plan to create a video how to edit drone footage?
@JustinBainbridgeYT12 күн бұрын
Hey! You're welcome! That's what I'm here for, to make everyone have a smoother, safer more enjoyable experience. Windy condition just comes with experience to be honest. I have a video on wind considerations with stabilised drones like the Mini 4 Pro but with FPV you just have to account for the wind and just adjust your attitude to suit. I do have plans for this. It might be a little while to come but it's on the list 😃

I can confirm your hand launch method is brilliant mate 👌🏻 thanks for the personal lessons I’ll only be hand launching from here on 😁🔥👌🏻 besides it keeps the ND filter from getting dust on it from ground launching as I’ve noticed, I just need to work on slowing down when coming in, poor swing operator at Ubud rice terrice 😬🤣

Thanks for your videos Justin. I just learned from your other video how to handcatch the Mini 4 pro from the lower side without flipping it around. The sport mode prevents the drone from avoiding the hand. Whats different with the Avatar 2?
@JustinBainbridgeYT4 күн бұрын
Hey! You're welcome! The difference in technique is due to the differences in drone design and features. It would be difficult to try and catch the mini from below or above safely and flip it, whereas the Avata has a great area to catch from above and flip easily, whilst keeping your hands away from the props. We just have to approach this design of drone a little differently. 😃

I need to start doing this. Lots of sand around here and i don't want it to blow up into the motors during t/o and landing.

What do you think of bumpers and prop guards. I think they saved me on a drone job crash between balcony and trees.
@JustinBainbridgeYT13 күн бұрын
I'm neither here nor there with them to be honest. I think some have the potential to protect in some medium level impact crashes. But if you crash hard, the guards won't save you. I also tend to fly a bit faster and more spritely with the Avata 2 and they would have a significant negative impact on the flight performance in this instance. For slow stuff, they won't really have much of an effect on flight. As for the camera bumpers, potentially good, but I'm not sure how the mounting points would hold up. Personally, I'm happy with knowing if I have a bad crash, it'll be damaged, so I just fly with a little room for error 😃
@Emuspaul13 күн бұрын
@@JustinBainbridgeYT it flies fast with them, but I think battery may deplete faster.

How do you launch from a moving vehicle. Like sailboat or such?
@JustinBainbridgeYT13 күн бұрын
It's more difficult and depends on the speed. To be honest. There are too many factors for me to recommend one method as I would use different methods based on the speed of the vehicle. And how much space you have, etc. The best option is just to stop the boat or get it to go very slowly, then use this style of technique. But bare in mind you'll be trying to catch a moving drone so you'd have to stay in control of it and match the speed, etc, and it gets a bit messy.
@kimberlyjacobsen414813 күн бұрын
@@JustinBainbridgeYT okay. Just a thought we bought a sailboat. And we are not experienced enough to just stop with the sails,(we could go up in to the wind 🤔) we would have to pulle the sails down then launch the drone fly then stop and pulle the sails down. I think up into the wind is the way to go .. thanks 🙏

I'm using the SYMIK Neck Strap - www.amazon.com/dp/B0BS3VHNTP?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details It's a nice strap, just put a small drop of oil on the clasp before you use it or it can be a bit stiff. Just wipe off any excess before you use it with the controller 😃
