Great deal! For me I'll probably make a machine to chop up the striped solid core wire into smaller pieces like 20mm long or something so I can really pack the bin full. Granted that bin will be very heavy but I would be able to store more in a smaller space. Keep up the videos. I hope the Wrecker is having a video soon 😈

i struggle with old steel cased armored cable. the wire is covered in cloth and rubbery and does not slide. here is northeast i also get a lot of knob & tub type wire with cloth almost melted to to wire. how do u strip cloth stuff. i find im turning it in unprocessed because i dont have a good way to strip.
@ProjectShopFl4 жыл бұрын
I’d have to see the wire to determine how I would strip it, tough wire I used to send through my granulator which worked great for everything. I would probably cut that steel cased wire in 3 foot sections with a pair of bolt cutters and then work it from there. I’m not sure what knob and tub wire is but if it’s burnt I would try putting it in a drill and twisting it before stripping.
@eldiablo80194 жыл бұрын
@@ProjectShopFl It's actually called " knob and tube " named for the ceramic tubes and knobs that were used to run it through the studs and joists before Romex.and it's going to be very old wire. The insulation is a combination of a sort of rubber compound covered with braided threads. VERY difficult to strip clean, and probably not worth the effort.
@ProjectShopFl4 жыл бұрын
@@eldiablo8019 The only thing I can suggest is get an automatic wire stripper. I’ve run across some old wire from time to time, definitely not fun to strip thank God I hardly ever come across it. I do remember it wanting to clog up my granulator so what I would do is throw one piece of old wire, and then a piece of new wire so it didn’t Build up and the new wire would clean it out. Good luck and thanks for watching

@ProjectShopFl4 жыл бұрын
I try to strip it all. Lol when I had my granulator set up I would strip 100% of any wire I got. As of right now the only wire I don’t strip is the small wire I clip off the transformers I get, and double insulated communication cable. I just sell it as number two. Stay tuned I’ll Building a new upgraded water sluice for my granulator and I’ll be back to stripping 100% of the copper wire I get. Thanks for watching

@ProjectShopFl3 жыл бұрын
I travel all over the state of Florida so I called the local scrapyards and pay A competitive price compared to theirs. Where I live the prices are a lot higher than some other parts of the state so sometimes I wind up paying a lot less than I would have to locally. I don’t know what you mean by a form letter but how I started I went to the Kelley blue book of contractors and called every single electrician in my area code and expanded from there. Just bend the bx cable in half, where the aluminum or steel was bent just cut it, than pull the aluminum or steel off twisting at times if needed. Always better to leave longer pieces of copper, takes less time stripping 100 feet in on piece compared to 5 or 10 pieces. Why arent you running that type of wire through your wire crusher?
@ProjectShopFl3 жыл бұрын
Normally I would run this through my machine but I was showing how you can do it by hand if you do not have a machine.
