HOW TO HARDFLIP

This is my take on one of the most contentious tricks I’ve ever dealt with in skateboarding. The hardflip was once a part of my daily rotation of tricks. But at some point, I lost the ability to do them, and that was fine with me for quite some time. Recently, my interest in the trip was renewed, which led to me breaking down and putting in the work to land them again. I was then able to teach two(one more since I shot this) of the skaters at my local park, Lake Street, to do them. So I guess you could say I’m qualified to make a tutorial finally.

Front shuv unlocked alot of timing, weight distribution, and float for me for other tricks. Nollie and switch also, teaches you control

For real, I started to get serious about nollie/switch once I got my normal shovits on lock. I'm not caring about anything else until I can switch ollie/nollie 3 stairs and 3 decks and get comfy with all the basic shovit and manual variations on both stances, and how to mix those up on different modules, heights and speeds. I'm making such a solid and fast progress from getting my switch early on...I feel like I improve much more at everything I can do regular trying to learn it switch than actually overpractising on regular.

Hardflip will executed on a different spot to creating some spacing and level out of rotating into a hardflip!

I can’t lift my back foot up. I tried all day and thats the only problem. I can form the trick easily its the backfoot and commitment. What shod I do?

Tried your advice and now I'm over rotating the front shove by a lot because now it has way more power behind it. Fs 360 shuv is going to happen soon I can taste it. Thanks for breaking down the techniques for us mortals.

You’ll get the balance. Just takes some trial and error to figure out how much force to use for the shuv vs for the flick.

Thing about hardflips is I find it easiest to just scoop straight through the board from the front side of pocket and the front foot just kinda does a tiny little flick when you're taking it off the board

Hard flips are easy when you figure them out. Mostly backfoot, I like doing them fakie

I used to love the fakie ones. I could always give someone a letter with them. Haven’t tried them since so can hardflip again.

Back foot thing is so true. It's the main thing I focus on with switch hards now, and it makes them form soooo much more consistently
