Great video. With the labor costs rising it is a big advantage to see someone actually take the bike apart and install new parts. I can see how people would be nervous about working on their own bikes. But, you really explain everything very well. Thanks again Joe

So have about 35,000 miles in the original comp. Took the bike out today and started to hear the “noise” about 2 miles later. Turned around, came home, and went right to your YT video here as I use your tutorials all the time. To see what’s involved. Definitely can handle this. Just hope it actually is the comp. Figured it was worth the try. 👍 Your vids are always easy to follow and I appreciate the passed on knowledge 😉

I picked up a new to me 2000 fxdwg thats been stage 4 since early in its life last fall. I purchaced an ebay comp for mine, but what I did was add one of the springs from it to my existing pack. I already forget how I arranged the pack lol. It makes it dang near solid though... a bit of an experiment thats for sure. I will trial it for the season and try to resist inspecting it untill the fall. Was having some wicked hot start clanging and banging. the high comp big bore pistons should have had de compressors installed when they had the heads ported..... thats a big ask for that starter.

Rocco.,. You're the man"stay organized, you can't get hurt".. Love it. I know I posted previously on your video, but I'm having that now compensated pack loose I have bottom and work done with cams and camp plate, don't think the compensator is strong enough for the work, it's collapsing at idle and wide open throttle The knocking is driving me absolutely crazy. Is it common for the spring packs to give out I can't upgrade with a better compensator cuz it's an '05 I got stuck with the year
@TwoWheelRocco
@TwoWheelRocco Жыл бұрын
I believe the spring package weakens. But for most, it's the bolt that tends to get a little loose go back in there and torque, use some red Loctite so it's does not loosen. Thank you for watching and all your support Mr. Rich Biker. Where is know how it works out. Ride safe and have a great day.

just would like to add a suggestion here guys,, if you watch the video at 14 minutes when the nut is getting the torgue..that is something that is sometimes not what it seems...after torqueing the clutch nut and chain tensioner, temporarily place the cover on with about four bolts and no gasket, then start the bike for about a half a minute, then take the cover back off and recheck the compensator nut, it will usually be loose again, after settleing in place,...which is the error many installers encounter, at just a few miles later. Happy starting !

You're the kind of guy that all of us would like to be next door neighbors to. Also, you did a video a while back about compensater noise and it turned out to be just a loose bolt. I wonder, did that loose bolt perhaps wear your comp down even though tightening it seemed to do the trick. Is that why you're now replacing this part do you think ? Just curious and thanks for another fun and informative video.

I think these compensators are a weak link. I did tighten the compressor probably three years ago maybe 4. now I have probably 40,000 miles on this bike now. When that happened I was probably at 20,000. It's just a weak item. Thank you for watching jersey J. Ride safe and have a great day.

Not Sure why evening who removes the clutch bolt claims it's a 1-3/16 socket because if you use calipers, it's actually a 30mm. Yes 1-3/16 will work but there is a lot more play in it and it can score the head of the bolt,. the 30mm socket won't do that.

Happy to help. I bought the compensator on eBay. For $40. I ended up not using that compensator my compensator just loosened up. So I'm into this for a gasket, 1 qt of oil and my labor. Most times the nut on the compensator loosens up, I bought the compensator as an insurance policy in case something els went wrong. I still got that compensator on the bike to this day. It's just rewarding to do the work yourself. Compare this to if you brought it to the dealer. You will save some money. Thank you for watching and all your support Mike. Just trying to help him. Ride safe and have a great day.

@@TwoWheelRocco thank you for your comment, I've watched you for a while. I've read on forums that using an impact on the compensator nut was bad, but you've got years of experience. Thanks for your advice and all you do for the harley community.
