How to Have a Simple Day of Fun in Cebu for $50 (Ocean Park and Cart Racing)

After checking into our hotel, Chrissy and I had a fun day of go carts and at the Cebu Ocean Park. Here are a couple of activities that we did which could be a lot of fun for a family or couple.

When we were young my father was trying to teach my sister to drive. Had to do it in 1 of our hay fields. She simply could not grasp the concept of steering. Neither turning the wheel for a corner, nor straighting back out afterwards. Took her MONTHS to (sorta) get the concept. I would laugh my butt off. She was older, but I had been driving tractors since before 10 years old. By 10 I was plowing, mowing, baling hay with a kicker and wagon all in tow. Able to back up all 3 together. It's odd how what 1 person may find simple is so bizarre to another. Of course there were many things she was a lot better at than I was. Still cracks me up thinking about back then. Thanks for bringing that memory up. You 2 crack me up. I'm sarcastic too. And most of my "jokes" get the same response as you get. Thanks. 👍

My favorite part is that Chrissy always asks where the iron is when she enters the hotel room. I go out of my way to confirm each hotel I stay at has an iron and full size ironing board before I book a room there.

Back in December, I stayed in that same hotel for 10 days; same floor, just six doors down from yours. Great hotel, room and service...however, most of the time our TV didn't work fully, or even partially. They were up half a dozen times--nothing changed. Wi-fi also messed up. The mall nearby was fabulous. When I returned to States, I called Holiday Inn Express to complain, and got 900 points added to my account, plus a special deal on upcoming lodging. Other than that it was a terrific like brand new room.

welcome to the philippines. rarely does everything work. our tv did not turn off. there was an issue with the pump and the water would die every min for 5 seconds while showering. at this point i'm so glad to be out of the province that I can take such dumb things happening to me.

Abaca Baking Company and House of Lechon if you have the time. Top of Cebu is great for sunsets and the lights of the city. We visited for the first time last year and were surprised how much we liked the city.

Next step for Chrissy is her drivers license Tim. 🤭 Pier was driving when we visited you in Leyte. Now she drives all the time for work. First drives for Chrissy in the Toyota should be at day break when there’s very little traffic. 😉😅🤭 most challenging part was getting her to maintain distance.

Tim, next time you're visiting Cebu try Alicia Apartelle. We all know that hotels have similar designs in terms of rooms with a bed, desk, etc however Alicia Apartelle comes with a kitchen too which is a real comfort plus the pool, fitness centre etc, you can't go wrong and it makes your staying even more relaxed.

@Tim....You should have visited Cebu Safari & Adventure Park in Carmen, a town 50 kilometers north of Cebu. The world-class zoological, botanical and adventure park is a must-visit when in Cebu as it features exotic animals from Africa, South and Central America, Asia and Australia who freely roam around their new adopted lush tropical natural habitat on the mountains of Carmen, all of 370 hectares. You will have surely loved it there.

We stayed at the hotel right next door to the holiday inn. I forgot the name but nice simple place. If you’re still out there, Sugbo Mercado at IT park is a good spot for dinner. Good prices and food.

There's also a branch of Sugbo Mercado at Cebu Business Park, just a few steps from Holiday Inn Hotel. Sugbo Mercado has other branches too SM Seaside Cebu Sky Park, at Il Corso Lifestyle Malls (next to Nustar Integrated Resort and Casino), in Mandaue City called The Market and one in Lapulapu City on Mactan Island. There's another food park in IT Park, very similar to Sugbo Mercado called Sugbo Sentro just on the south edge of IT Park, right across Cebu Exchange Tower. BTW, Sugbo is the local name for Cebu.

Tim I took my GF there last Thursday and it was fun. I really liked the fish that eat the dead skin off your feet and stayed in that for an hour. I was suprised it wasn't a little longer but it was enough.
