Good video. If you really want to learn about workflow, RO a match. I learned so much from ROing the Grand Slam last year.

I'll have to say that after watching shooters all day on various stages during the Ghost Hunter match, I'd say that the biggest problem I saw was looking down range too soon. They were in such a hurry to find the targets that they didn't look at the firing position enough. They would put their equipment in bad locations and didn't take time to look at the left and right limit markers. Many shooters got focused on where they thought the targets should be as opposed to where the limit stakes showed them to look. This caused a lot of problems both days. It would only take a couple of seconds to take this in and come up with a plan.

I feel more stable shooting from my tripod table mounted bag than clipping to the ARCA rail. Certainly more stable with my arm extended forward over the scope. Without answering “whatever works for you” am I on the right track?

Oh, good video and I’ll miss y’all in Arizona.

This is how we do it. I find the rifle recoils better on the bag.

Hi Mike and Kili, is a tripod a must-have piece of kit for these types of matches? If you didn't have a tripod for any of the stages, would some targets have been impossible to see?
@longrangewiththelillys12212 жыл бұрын
I think you would really be at a disadvantage without one.

Is it a rule that you have to have your tripod attached to your pack when the stage starts? Could you not just throw your tripod over your shoulder with the legs already extended?
@longrangewiththelillys12212 жыл бұрын
It is a rule tripod has to be collapsed and stowed. As if you were hiking covering ground.

@@longrangewiththelillys1221 good to know. I'm signed up with a buddy to shoot as a team at the Hornady match in Price this weekend. Will be our first hunter match. We've shot some PRS. Still trying to get a good idea of what to expect. If you have time, could you give me a quick explanation on how you think the work flow would differ with a team vs individual? There's not a lot of video showing teams at NRL hunter matches. Thanks!!

There was a really good thread covering different techniques on the NRL hunter FB page about a week ago

What brand Tripod do most use?

There are so many out there now. Really Right Stuff is considered the gold standard. Our personal favorite is two vets sporting goods

@@longrangewiththelillys1221 I'm just looking to get into competition as a matter of fact I haven't built my rifle yet. The Really Right tripods are out of my range. The Two Vets tripods are more reasonable and seem well built. Is there any particular model that works better or is better suited in your opinion?

I would contact Daniel Mcnamee and have him walk you through your options.
