I'm 66. I retired from teaching art (after 36 years) right before covid. My husband and I moved to a small, quiet tourist town in Southern Indiana. The drive to my school was just too far away to continue working. I've never been happier. I truly love what I did with the children and thank God for that opportunity. After years of noisy schools, though. My husband and I (he also worked in the same school system) quite enjoy the peace and quiet. We sit most evenings on our back deck, listening to the last tweets of the birds and watching the deer. When we don't have plans, I spend a few hours working in my studio. Right now, mostly gluebooks. I am at peace and happy with my life. Enjoyed your video very much. Beautiful images 😊

I guess at this stage of my life after major life threatening illness for years with health issues I just love the peace of reflection and contemplation. I don't want any drama. I have just found glue books which is really a lovely art form only I struggle to find images as I can't afford magazines. I love being with my boys but they have their own lives and so I do my craft and art and spend time in contemplation. I don't seek out friends too much because I am quite happy to be at home.

I'm nearly 64, what I want most in my life right now is more quiet time to myself with God, so I can really just have a talk with him without thinking about anyone else being around me. The only other thing I'd like to have is my own creative space where I play with my craft supplies, not worry about making a mess and if the project I'm working on isn't finished - I could leave everything where it is, ready for me to start where I left off. Hope this makes sense. God bless you Wendy. Becky B from Arkansas

Just yesterday, I heard someone remark that we are reborn at the age of 52. So at 53, our brain is that of a one year old, 54, we are 2...and so on. Therefore, at 68 years old, a person's new brain is that of an inquisitive 16 year old. When I heard this, all these new interests I have begun, so different than anything before, made sense to me ❤. I am not odd, just new

Good morning. I just got up and found your video. What a nice surprise! Your spread is beautiful! I really like the floral sticker book, think I'll order one. To answer your question, what do I want more out of my life and what's important to me at this stage of my life. I'm 72 and I think what I like most is time to do what I want to do. I've worked hard all my life and now I appreciate being able to do what is most meaningful to me, my crafts, visiting family and friends. My husband and I just enjoy being together. Meaningful relations are important to me too. I've learned to lean on God more and leave things up to him.

I am 62 and am finding I have missed me. We get so busy taking care of everybody and everything else, we let ourselves just fall by the wayside. We dont mean to, but it just seems to happen. I have been exploring my artistic side that I didnt even know I had until recently. I also have stepped back from drama. I find myself being drawn into everybodies dramas and in turn I get stressed. I have made a promise to myself that I will step back if I see things heading in that direction. I don't need it, I dont want it. I have had my fair share in life now its time for me. I will listen to others but why do I need to be in the middle of it? I dont! I want/need quiet, peace, and comfort in my time for me. I dont think thats selfish, I think its self preservation and truthfully after 60 some years I deserve it. I am going to find and bring back me. I think anyone who loves me will understand and not begrudge this. Quiet and peace. Reading, arting, doing absolutely nothing, thats what I want. Thats what I am seeking.

Your question is really interesting. I’m 52 and single by choice, so I always thought that life was too short to do things we didn’t like, unless, of course, we needed to. So until I was 43, I led my life always as I wanted. I’m a bit of a solitary person, I like to be alone, to stay home, I hate crowded places, I don’t like to go out at night, and everything was fine. I’m a teacher and that was the job of my choice, so even at work, I felt great. Of course, I had my struggles and difficulties, but when you do what you love, it’s so much easier to deal with that. Long story short, at the age of 43, I saw myself in a situation in which I had to be with my father (who had divorced my mother when I was 19) and my stepmother. Strangely enough, I started forcing myself to do things to please them, because they find me weird, strange, different, ... I mean, my father is a really nice person, but, although we always kept in a very regular touch, we didn’t live together anymore and when I was closer he started finding me a bit odd! So, from 2014 till 2019, I saw myself in situations, like going into a pub full of people, that I absolutely hated! And when at Christmas 2019 they decided for me where I was going to spend the holidays, that was it! And I realized that I was not the person I used to be, I was trying to please people, who didn’t appreciate me no matter what I did. From that day on, I spend Christmas and holidays alone, I spend my weekends alone, but I feel I’m respecting myself again. I’m an introvert and I don’t make friends easily, but I believe that being alone respecting yourself and your rhythm and doing the things you really love is more important than being with people who don’t value us. It’s always a pleasure to listen to your thoughts. I was a bit sorry for the mouse 🐁, but I am a city girl, so I get it 😂 ❤️💙💗💜💚💛🧡🖤♥️

I'll be 65 in January and the thing I most want in life is spending time with my kids and grandkids. Second to that, I'd like to get a part time job and earn a little of my own money! We had the same issue as you with the mouse but with a flying squirrel! It came up the back of our couch and was running around behind my daughter's head! My husband ended up somehow getting a towel over it, then set him free outside! I understand not wanting to kill a mouse, but they poop and pee on everything and just putting them outside will solve nothing. They will just find another way back inside! I enjoyed your collaging process. I'm just getting into this!

@@susanstemmet607 Quick story: When I was young I was afraid of deep water (bad swimming lesson experience) so I avoided situations involving deep water. At some point, I decided that, since fear is from the enemy, I would resist it in the name of Jesus whenever it came up. I refused to entertain or be motivated by fear. It didn't take long until fear was no longer an issue for me. I hadn't even applied it to the water issue. One day I had a chance to go sailing with a friend (I live near a huge lake) and I jumped at the chance. While out on the boat it occurred to me that I was no longer afraid of the water. That fear had disappeared when I refused to live with fear about anything. It works!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. With regard to glue, I find that the wet glue generally holds better than glue stick, but glue stick causes less warping of the paper. Therefore, I use whatever I feel like. 😊

I have a mouse tale for you. A couple of decades ago, I grew a bunch of sunflowers. I thought it would be a good idea to put them on screens and let them dry in the attic. Duh! Not a good idea! every mouse in the small Iowa town I live in thought it was time for a get together and they all met in my attic. Good grief. Ugh! I found a great way to catch mice though, and it really works. You take a bucket and drill a small whole on each side. straighten a piece of wire hanger and put it through the empty pop can. slide the hanger through each side. put water in the bottom of the bucket, and smear peanut butter on the pop can. The mice smell the peanut butter and make their way across the wire to the can to eat it and the can turns and they fall in the water. Works great! God bless 🐀🌻

Ha ha. Your attic must have been like a clan get-together. That trap idea would qualify as the midway ride. (Okay, I'll stop now.) Thanks for sharing.

Oh how funny, the way you told the story. One year we had a really nice crop of walnuts. I spent an afternoon gathering them up and put them down in the driveway to dry and we could run over them th get the husk off. Yeah, well the squirrels were like " Hey look, free smorgasbord". So next time I put them in those square milk crates and stacked them on top of each other, good idea right? Oh no no no, squirrels can get in those to. I didn't get one walnut that year!! All the work gathering so the squirrels could eat good. The bucket idea is the best. My husband does this every year. It works! Thanks for sharing your story.

57….5 grown children, 10 grandchildren (3 of which we have custody of) at 57 I thought I’d be a happy empty nester. My reality is I’m raising 3 small boys. My one want is to have the responsibilities of a person with no responsibilities. I want to sit in my craft room all day with no interruptions, and only the noise of an occasional uninterrupted movie or my favorite KZbin channels.

We had mice in our bathroom a couple of years back and we put three cats in there and they watched them happily, so in the end my husband put poison behind the boards, I feel guilty now though they were cute. Ps I grew up on a farm too in uk. What is that spreader thing called please, so I can buy please? I’m about to go out to my art room and I will put you in the background for company, can be lonely out there.

That mouse was cute but after it was deceased, we discovered that it had been having the run of the house when we were out. I bought the spreader at the dollar store but you can get similar ones at art stores, building stores, or kitchen stores. Here is a link for similar ones: amzn.to/45qO935

They do have LIVE traps. We used them successfully when we had a mouse infestation. I understand everyone does their 'thing' however somethings you shouldn't share. I watch you to relax and have fun...but this was awful. Sorry.

I am so happy to watch your creativity Wendy! I have had my youngest grandson this summer and I have been thrown off my regular routine. I do enjoy my grandkids but it’s always wonderful to have time to decompress and create, even if It’s not me (sometimes), I always feel so motivated and focused after watching you. Thank you Wendy for sharing! Sending happiness and hugs(this is what I feel after I watch you.) 💖🫶🏽🦋💖🫶🏽🦋… Also at 55 , I had planned on continuing my creative process. Exploring what I am truly passionate about(creating Art). I have spent the last 10 years with the grandchildren (watching them when their parents are working.) My grandchildren are 12,11, & 6. We are having our first granddaughter in September. My daughter in-law just asked me to watch her when she goes back to work(from maternity leave.) I told my adult kids that I wouldn’t be able to watch a baby full time(when they decided to have another baby). Yet here I am. I pray that I don’t lose the desire I have to be creative.

My daughter has three children, aged 9, 6, and a 7-month old baby. They came and stayed for five days in July and I was pooped after they left. You must have more stamina than I have. With creativity, I find that if I can keep a project out where I can see it, I can work on it for a few minutes at a time. I don't know if that works for you, but I'm praying you get lots of chances to create.
