Hi there. Loved your video and just subscribed. I just got into the whole glue book. It’s just so much easier. I wanted to take a break from actually making junk journals. The process is long for me. I’m still considered a beginner and my over thinking makes me take forever. Oh and watercolors…I feel you. I have a love hate relationship with watercolors. I love watching other people and their results but I still need so much practice and it doesn’t come out like I want to. It makes me frustrated because I’m a little impatient with learning new techniques. I like fast results without all the practice. I know easy way out lol and this is the reason why I’m terrible at nice lettering or calligraphy. No matter how much I practice My fingers just don’t want to get it lol This is why I love the glue book idea. It’s Fast, easy and no over thinking so I have more fun. Does anyone else have the same problem as I do??

Hi Wendy, good idea to turn magazines into a gluebook, I'm going to try this too. I have been using (regular) sketchbooks for this for quite some time now. My gluebooks are a combination of scrapbook/journal and art journals. I really do everything in it just what makes me happy at that moment. Thanks for this video and I hope you show in videos how to fill this. Love from the Netherlands ✂️🎨🖌️✏️💕

Besides a glue stick and some basic stickers etc. What would you do for inside pages for beginners ??? And add to the kit. Thanks

Hi Kym. If you go to my Glue Books play list and watch some of the other videos on the topic, you can pick up lots of ideas. A few could include pages from old books, pictures from magazines, pages from used books with lots of illustrations, and maybe a rubber stamp. I hope that helps.

Wendy: I think exactly the same way you think. May I add some other thoughts. First, this is a free way to craft. The only item you have to buy is a glue stick. Magazines can be gotten for free. (Magazine stands, libraries, beauty salons, friends, etc) and it is an easy way to just relax. There are no mistakes in gluing collages. Another important thing is this is another way to recycle. It’s a win, win for everyone. One of my favorite ways to craft. Carol from California

I am brand new to collage and glue booking. Thank you for sharing your technique it is very helpful. I am curious though. I am considering purchasing the gloo stick your shared. However, there are 3 different ones the link you shared links to one in teal packaging that is called disappearing the is one in grey packaging that is called strength and one in yellow packaging. Do you know what the differences are?
@WendyDewarHughes2 жыл бұрын
I've only used one type but it appears that the one in green packaging goes on opaque but dries clear. So perhaps the others don't. However, if you're gluing paper on paper I imagine that any would work. I hope that helps, and have fun with your projects.
@erikaf12152 жыл бұрын
@Valerie Martin From what I know. A lot of people buy the gray color one. It is also Amazon’s choice. Any color is good because this is a very good glue but the gray one is for strength and the other colors are more for disappearing. I don’t think you can go wrong with any color tho. Hope that helps.

12:54 Pro tip… from a wobbly handed metal ruler and blade worrier (now Warrior!) 😂 Get yourself some 3M Command hooks (the clear ones are cool!) and attach them to your metal ruler…. Gives you a better grip and keeps your fingers higher up and away from those nasty easy-to-slip cutting blades! 🤗🤗🤗 Love this… imma gonna make some this weekend, this looks so fun! I love this technique. One question: do you glue the folded pages together before you glue stuff on top?
@WendyDewarHughes2 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda. It depends how stiff or thick you'd like the pages to be. If you glue the folds together you'll get a thicker page, so if you prefer a thinner one, you can just cut the extra folded side off. I hope that helps.

@WendyDewarHughes11 ай бұрын
Good for you! Watercolours are transparent, so the more water, the more sheer they become. Less water, more paint makes them more opaque. Play around with different colours using more or less water, as not all colours are the same. Have fun!

I think the purpose is in the doing. Creating something with your hands is its own reward as it stills the mind and body during the process. Aside from that, you can keep them as a collection or give as unique gifts.

Perhaps, or perhaps I missed saying something. Glue books don't have any great purpose other than the pleasure one derives from making them, similar to keeping a scrapbook. My other videos will show more examples of what you can do with glue books.

@@WendyDewarHughes: Thanks for your reply, Wendy. When making them in college classes years ago, they weren’t called glue books-though I don’t recall what they were called. Anyhoo, I figured it out.
