This is a very helpful video, thank you very much. I have one thing to say about unhealthy parenting: parents' ignorance is no excuse; parents ARE responsible for denying and suppressing the truth about harming their children and failing to seek help. The world always tells us when we're on the wrong path and it's because of their CHOOSING to be oblivious, rebellious and stubborn they didn't get help with devastating and destructive results. There's NO EXCUSE for that and they should be blamed because GOD holds every one responsible for sin and pours His wrath on sinful man (Rom. 1:18ff). Having said that, I don't want to be part of that destruction but I want to be part of the solutions for myself going forward, however painful it is.

I just discovered two memories that lead to my social anxiety. I have a fear of meeting new people and introducing myself and speaking in a public setting. I was brought back to some incidences in middle school where a former friend loudly made a joke about my nose in front of everyone and they laughed at it . I always felt like my looks as a woman were tarnished based on that joke. I was also brought to an incident where I tried to make some new friends sitting at a lunch table and was basically shunned and treated like an alien for doing so.

I had the exact same "nose joke" situation. 20 years later, my former classmate told me she was very envious of my nose, because her nose was (according to her) disgusting. So she did it to "steal my joy of having a nice nose". I bet your former friend was same envious. Even if her nose looked perfect (whatever it means), she might love your nose and resent you for what you have an she doesn't. If people shun you just like that, then it means they don't know themselves how to make friends, how to socialize (and why it's important), are afraid of people and are super insecure outside of their comfort zone. It has nothing to do with you. sometimes a group of people are very very tightly "sealed" because they share some ugly secret. In my high school there was such group. Years later I learned that they were doing drugs (and they were kids from so called good families, many of them had parents who're doctors, professors, etc.) They were hostile to the outsiders, because they shared a secret no one could learn about.

This is exactly what I needed. I was just wondering yesterday how to get over a trigger I’ve been dealing with for a decade.

Excellent video thank you - I just disagree with one bit. When you say we repeat stuff consciously after the first time - I suggest that it is unconscious. That’s why we repeat it. What we are doing now, watching this video and recognizing what we have been doing to perpetuate our suffering, is in fact the process of becoming conscious. Thanks again - subscribed.

Is it normal not to feel pain but to feel numb and like you're stuck?
@lolastone312314 күн бұрын
Yes. It's "freeze / play dead" reaction. Frequent even in the world of animals. It's the most severe reaction to fear.

Absolutely!!!! I’ve been stuck for a decade. Crying sad. Hopeless. I just starting taking back control this summer and Dr. Kenny here is an absolute gem in helping to heal. Keep watching him. I take notes too. Then I read them thru out the week. It’s a rough process but we are worth it. Love to u!!!
