How to Help Someone That Says "I want to go home!", When They Already Are Home

This information is so pertinent to my job as a Child Welfare Specialist it's unreal. I'm going to have to watch this twice - once as a person educating themselves on dementia in order to be a good caretaker - and once as a caseworker to provide foster parents with good solid information as to why our children do some really strange odd things. Safety seeking is really hard to explain to the general population!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for producing and sharing this! I did not know this and was not communicating correctly. My friend’s Mom apparently has been in an Amber state several times because she’ll say, “You go to bed” or “You do” whatever it is that I was trying to help her do. I have a LOT to learn to truly be supportive.

Teepa, your ability to re-enact and articulate so clearly these situations brings me to tears. Thank you for helping me so much as I struggle to care for the love of my life during this difficult journey. I hear "I want to go home" a thousand times a day. I've never been more helpless to "fix" something in my whole life. Of all the difficult issues a caregiver has to deal with with a loved one on this journey, "I want to go home" is the absolute worst. Thank you
