I would have liked to have seen a closeup of the finished hem.

She didn’t hem the dress on the serger. Not what I expected from Babylock serger video, disappointed.

@@b0sseslady1 we are sorry this video wasn't to your satisfaction. There are different ways to create a hem, this is just one beginner-friendly approach.

@@babylocksewing If your demonstrator is only going to run the hem edge of the dress through the 4-thread serger to finish the edge, then you need to change the title of this video as she did not "HEM" THE DRESS WITH THE SERGER!

Would’ve been nice to see the stitching (under & cover) to see if there are any issues with the areas of thickness or seams.

thanks for the suggestion!

2 things I would add...1. I would have used stretchable wonder tape to keep the hem in place (instead of pins) & add a bit of stabilization under the hem to make sewing a bit easier, and 2. using a "hump jumper" to get over those side seams would have made sewing over them so much more efficient....

I would have liked to know all the settings you used on the serger.

Why did you use two different machines?
@babylocksewing Жыл бұрын
There are multiple ways to create a hem, but this technique was the easiest for the material and desired look.
@Motown1966 Жыл бұрын
@@babylocksewingShould’ve used a serger with a cover stitch function instead of serger with double needle technique. Not every sewing machine user know how to setup double needles on their sewing machines…especially beginners. Another technique would be to utilise the blind hem foot method as well.

Differential feed setting not mentioned but appears to be negative set up.
@babylocksewing Жыл бұрын
thanks for pointing this out. The differential feed is set beyond the .6 to the "stretching" setting in order to keep this fabric from puckering.

So lifting the foot keeps it from messing up?
@babylocksewing Жыл бұрын
Yes, lifting the foot and slightly advancing the fabric before your serge over the seam can help to avoid errors.

If no cutting is actually needed, why not just suppress the knife. It is a standard feature on my Imagine. I prefer coverstitching to twin needle. The latter requires some testing to avoid tunneling. Dteam a Seam is also handy.
