Thanks so much! I had little hope of finding something when I searched for "How to hide light power cord for sign" but your video showed up! This is perfect to hide the power cord for my metal sculpture in my spa that I'm adding lights to. thanks again.

This video is excellent; very useful information. I am going to try this to hide all the wires from my under-cabinet lighting in my kitchen. Thank you!

Thanks so much! I needed to see this solution. Especially that last part where you covered the bottom. My switch is at the top and I had no idea I could split it up so that the switch still shows but the cord is covered. I was thinking I was doomed to having the cord just show all together. I hope to see more videos from you. Especially on how you styled your shelves. Love your blog!

Thanks for the information. I'm trying to cover & attach a cord to the ceiling of my craft area. I had a friend install a 4' shop light over my crafting desk but the cord has to travel about 5' across the ceiling & then down the wall to the wall outlet. I'm not as concerned about the cord on the wall, but I need a way to attach the cord to the ceiling. I've tried using the hooks that have the removable tab on the back but they keep coming down, I'm assuming it from the weight of the cord itself. The cord is currently hanging at an angle from the light to the top of a TV that is against the plug wall. Dangerous for a tall person or anyone not looking where they are going. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have the same problem with two lamps above my couch in living room. Looks horrible. I am living in a rental and cannot hardwire anything now would I want to spend the $$ on an electrician. There has to be a better way to hang a lamp without hardwiring it? Maybe?

Silly me. I put 2 old work boxes in the wall, one for the fixture and 1 for a switch, pry off the baseboard with putty knives so I can hide the holes I’ll have to make in the plaster to drill through the studs to fish power from a duplex outlet to power the switch and the light and then use a thin piece of plywood and a rubber mallet to put the baseboard back on without messing up the finish. I can’t say if it’s more or less $ than the taped on plastic sheath. It’s 30 minutes to an hour if you’ve done it before, longer if you haven’t.

You could also make a small repairable hole behind fixture . Then drop cord down to outlet . Pull out outlet and reach in and grab fixture cord . Cut plug off if you had not already and wire it into back of outlet. And bingo cord is completely hidden.

Isn't that dangerous? I was watching videos about concealing wires from wall-mounted TVs and it was advised that this was not safe to do.

If you're painting it the same as the wall color- it's actually easier to paint it once it's installed. If you're going with a contrasting color, I'd definitely paint it beforehand.
