I used to be terrified in fights, my hands would shake, I would sweat like crazy. What helped me was to try teaming up with random players, most of whom are reckless 12 year olds just looking for kill count rather than wins, they will push anything that moves, no matter how dumb the circumstances. I would just follow them around the map like a good little sidekick and it forced me into way more close range, inconvenient, stupid fights than normal. That helped me get used to it and I chilled out and calmed down.

This is incredibly helpful Toby. This might sound dumb, but I just realised I keep my eyes on my own character too much. I had no idea I was doing this until I watched this with your eye tracking - always following the enemy. Thank you.

Lol I was only using a shotgun to demonstrate how to land good shots. I wouldn't take fights like that otherwise. 100% just trying to demonstrate lining up shots with a shotty - not how to win fights. Watch my other videos for that.

I know hes not rocking a normal keyboard but when he says left stick aim is he just saying to aim with your WASD? even his fall/cross shots just looks like hes doing his WASD do most of the work and then hi just adjusts with his mouse.

Keeping your eye on the enemy is actually the best advice I’ve ever had on this game. Sounds simple, but the same rule applies to ANY sport except shooting irl lmao. I always kept my eyes on where my reticle was so I wouldn’t lose track of that hard to see white blob.
@TobyWanShinobi
@TobyWanShinobi 10 ай бұрын
Thanks. Yeah 99% of the time you should JUST be looking at your enemy and paying no attention to your reticle... your brain knows where your reticle is. You can test this theory by turning off your reticle in game and seeing how well you still land shots.

Good informative video! I've been in Fortnite since it was in beta mode. 2 things I'd like to add to help people here. As you mentioned in the video it's a game. That being said it is programmed to help newer players/ lower account players with damage in BR. And 2nd, if you are a trickshotter use the right thumb stick to aim with your sniper.This will help your bloom tremendously. Happy Gaming!!🎯

this is smtg i already knew and utilized, but it's smtg that needs to be reinforced. locking onto your enemy doesn't mean moving your crosshair onto him. sometimes when i lose sight of my enemy (or have no idea where he is), i tend to make that mistake (of trying to find him with my crosshair, rahter than my eyes/brain). this is the thing. and watching your video helped me realize this more concretely. ty @toby

Im sure youre aware how difficult it would be to do that. After watching this video, you basically told me to remove all the things i was trying to do to better my aim and just on the first game it had me dumping on 4 people in a row with half health (from a 5th player before them). ngl the crosshair tip works for box fights too as long as you arent diagonal of them. for example, doing a peanut butter edit. maybe dont let your crosshair fall into them if you jump to do to the peanut butter edit and their gun is already out, but if their gun isnt out you can do a peanut butter edit, jump, let your crosshair fall into them cuz you have the time

Although this video is full of tips I've never thought about, I feel like I'll be completely unable to apply any of them when all I have is a PS4 with a stock controller and a mediocre connection. I've been trying to drop hot and stay calm during close-quarters fights, but I've noticed my performance has degraded significantly compared to last season (which wasn't good to begin with). I'm at a complete loss about what to do moving forward. On a brighter note, I finally found something I liked in the shop, so it was a good opportunity to use your creator code. Thanks for consistently making such helpful videos.

You gotta work with what you got and not make excuses - even if it is making things harder for you. Believe it or not, this actually hold you back when you can blame your problems on external things that you have no control over. This is why some people with 1 arm can play better than some people with 2... they've accepted what they've got and take full responsibility for improving without letting their circumstance be the major determining factor. Same thing with age, or whatever you want to use as an excuse. The less excuses you use, the more accountability you take on and the more you improve because YOU are in control of your abilities and outcomes. Thank you for the support my friend!

A bad connection hits home to me. I have terrible Internet and play overseas servers with 200+ ping; it can be trickier to win 50/50 fights but that just means you learn how to misdirect people and reset fights like crazy until you finally get the leg up in an encounter. I'd actually recommend trying a few games on oversea servers with massive ping delay, and see if you can develop some new tactics around it, and if you have an easier time when you're back on your local servers. I always appreciate my terrible connection once I'm back at my local servers and I think it makes me play better. Just don't play Brazil, you're not ready for their player base. All of them go hard no matter what their play style.

If you record your own gameplay with recording software (not Fortnite replays) you will realize there really isn't "inconsistency" its always a slight miss. Trust me - I watch back every single one of my deaths, as well as on stream and you'll see it's like inches off, etc. If you hit center chest, your going to get massive damage. It's just hard to tell it's a miss in the moment.

ADS when your opponent is unaware of your presence, or you are at further range behind cover / right shoulder peek. I'll often do a quick ADS if my enemy is stuck in the air jumping just to get some extra damage because they are so easy to hit.

Toby sponsored by Tobii... hmmm it's all in the name (: I think the MAIN mistake when people use shotgun is overflicking, a lot of overflicking. That's what I see the most personally, and even I did that mistake a lot when I was on MnK (I switched to PS4 because my laptop couldn't really run that game anymore). But that's just my opinion.

Ok there’s one thing I want to point out: Ok yes, letting the enemy fall into your crosshair or letting the crosshair fall into the enemy can help you so much in close range fights. But there’s one problem, it is a very good technique but at the same time, it can have you lose fights if getting used to the technique too much. Allow me to explain. A very aggressive sweat is fighting you in close range. Your sharp tooth shotgun crosshair has hit the opponent after letting the opponent go into you crosshair. But now here’s a problem, the opponent has hit you badly with the infiltrator. your gonna hit the opponent with the shotgun a second time, so your about to wait for the opponent to fall into the crosshair but while waiting, the opponent already has an advantage and is still shooting. Since your waiting and the opponent has very good aim, your basically dead. The main point here is that the technique is very good but it’s a problem when mainly the opponent can kill you due to the fact your waiting for the opponent to fall into the crosshair instead of either do a slight flick or follow the movements. It’s like waiting for an alligator to snatch at you while you think you can dodge the snatch and then start punching the alligator. What I suggest to improve more aim is to follow the opponents movements. I seen you do that with smgs and AR but with shotguns you barely try to follow the movements and while waiting for the opponent to fall into your crosshair, your already dying. Sorry I missed your streams, been busy so yea, NUUUUUUUUU *explodes hell* Oh almost forgot, the jumping/falling down part, well I would use the technique for that but what if your going against someone better than a decent player or even better than you? You either have to do a slight flick down on the opponent or follow the body movement of the opponent instead of just waiting for the crosshair to fall in while getting lasered. Let me guess, I can tell behind the screen in your mind your saying “oh look it’s cookie the streamsniper”😂😂😂

Fair point - but I'll say this... I can't remember losing a single fight where I felt like if I had just pulled the trigger faster I would have won the fight. It seriously never happens. Quite the opposite... everytime I win a fight because I waited for good alignment before pulling the trigger, I give myself a pat on the back and I'm thankful I was patient. And also, I always use an infiltrator... but the main point is this: waiting half a second and pulling the trigger once to hit an enemy for 80 damage is far better than rushing shots and hitting an enemy twice for 40 damage to total out to 80. SMGs are different because you can hit anywhere on the body for the same amount of damage. You hit someone in the foot with a shotgun at close range, you are losing that fight 75% of the time. Instead if you take a few milliseconds to line up a good shot, you win.

@@TobyWanShinobi will it’s different for you since you play so confident. But it can be different for some ppl since they aren’t on keyboard or as confident. What I’m trying to point out is that the technique is good but you need to follow the opponents movements with the shotgun crosshair, otherwise your just letting the opponent a chance to win just by waiting for the crosshair to do its job. Not saying it’s you who’s making the mistake, it can be some ppl who are new to this technique that need to improve aim but might lose because of using it too much. So ye. Have you ever ask yourself: What If I Run Into An Enemy Whose Better Than Me?

I feel like this is my exact issue. I’m on mouse and keyboard, I’m great with an AR and sniping but I lose nearly every close range fight. I can put initial damage on my opponent but there’s always these crucial seconds, where I feel as though I’m waiting for the crosshair to line up.. and bam, I’m dead.
