Thank you Dutch Seaman. It´s rare and awesome to find thins kind of very concrete information. It´s great that you chose to mention both approximative costs and real places where to go to etc. Thank you. If you wrote a book with this kind of down to earth straight forward information I would buy it right away. This was very inspirational to me and might make me actually take the step at head off. Thank you!

I hitchhiked across the Pacific Ocean in 2014 from Colon Panama to Dili East Timor. It took 5 and a half months and was one hell of an experience. Sailing is 95 percent monotony and 5 percent pure terror. If you are going to do it do heaps of research and try and find a boat in good condition. Our boat looked ok, but just about everything with a moving part broke on the trip and we had serious life threatening problems because of it. We were on a 410 Lagoon cat and didn't' sail in convoy so we were totally alone. Engine failures, cracked hull, broken inverter and a generator fire meant that we had a loss of AC power and limited power. Even little things like what type of personality your captain has can make a huge difference on your trip. Each boat is different as is every captain. I would recommend not leaving your boat half way across the Pacific though. You can get trapped somewhere with no hope of another boat.If you are in convoy or a big regatta like this it might be different. If you have to get off make it to Tahiti and try there, that way if you are stuck you can still fly out. If you are still looking to do it, findacrew.com is the site we went through. Set up a profile and make yourself super available to fly where ever in the world they need you. Goodluck to anyone trying to do it.

Hi Forest Jack, I'm sorry you had that experience. All people I've met have had amazing life experiences by doing it. Boats do tend to have parts that break. Kind of exciting when I look back at it. All the best! Huub

Great video,many thanks. When I am living in the Soviet Union for 36 years, I was travel by train for free all over Russia and Central Asia. I got a good education only by traveling ,when I move to USA I traveled for free all Canada for three years every town all places. Now I am sailing alone around the world nothing cost it’s free,many friends from USA helping for me. I wish you all the best.

Hello Huub, I just came across your channel and am enjoying your videos 👍 This may be a difficult question - when were you happier, back when you were boat hopping or now that you have your own boat?
@HuubVlogs Жыл бұрын
Now that I have my own boat. As I really enjoy my freedom to choose what to do when I want to do it...

hey, I'll be done with my studies in june. I'd like to join a boat just like you not long after that and sail for a few moths (3-12). Any advice for this time of year?
@HuubVlogs7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jago, in June go to Tahiti. Also see Tahiti Morea Rendezvouz. Otherwise maybe Mexico, Mediterenean, Caribbean, but I'n not exactly sure if people sail there the whole year through or not, All the best, Huub

HOW MUCH was "CHEAP"????
@HuubVlogs7 жыл бұрын
Hi Apogeus, good question, 50% of my voyage probably was alcohol, since that was quite expensive. So if you don't drink.... Should be manageable with purely the boat costs of 10-15 USD a day. Except what you do yourself on land and what you drink etc. I think I spent like 10-12k in a year in total with all my extra costs. All the best, Huub
@Kognito727 жыл бұрын
$10 to $20 per day. That's $70 to $140 per week. It depends on where you are (Europe = expensive) and how much the captain wants you to chip in. It could be just food or it could be food, fuel & marina fees.

Your english is good. No need to caption your narration. Maybe parts when you cant be heard well, such as windy conditions. The captioning distracts from the video itself. Good story of what you have done so far!
@Josef_R7 жыл бұрын
The captions are good for non English speakers because they can read English easier than understand it spoken.
@HuubVlogs7 жыл бұрын
Haha that means my pronunciation is getting better!!! Thanks man! I'll look into that on the new VLOG videos
@HuubVlogs7 жыл бұрын
Hey Josef, I just have to look how important it is to understand it correctly I guess. My dry weird jokes might not need sub titles hahahaha , all the best! Huub
@wnfaknd7 жыл бұрын
Good point. My answer to that: learn english :) The captions are distracting.
@Josef_R7 жыл бұрын
I don't find them distracting at all. And they are good for when he says something unusual.
@Josef_R7 жыл бұрын

Hey Josef, boats stop sailing for a while in New Zealand. I am going to travel on land for a while. Most boats leave in April again from NZ to Indonesia after hurricane season. I probably will continue than. As far as I know there's not a lot of sailing going on in between that time... Huub
