How to hold the crochet hook and yarn

Thanks so much for demonstrating your technique for holding your yarn. I use this method as well. I tried to keep my index finger pointed up as shown in so many other videos, but it was not comfortable for me and the tension was not consistent.

There is no reason whatsoever to keep that finger up, it will get tired very easily. The goal is to be comfortable, to be able to work for a long time without fatigue or unnecessary tension.

I learnt to do it this way when I was younger and then I stumbled on other videos showing a different method and couldn’t get it.. but this is better now

Thank you! I learned it in a hand-killing way and just put a tennis ball on my hook so i had to relearn

Holding the hook like a pencil is the most comfortable! So many people look so uncomfortable digging the hook into the yarn

Thanks for sharing, but there is no right or wrong way to hold hook and yarn, there are different methods just as there are different methods in knitting. Do what is most comfortable.

although I can't agree with the parent thing (I don't know if the issue is my hook being too big or small so I didn't ask for a new one yet) but I am indeed resisting the urge to sob and bang my head into the wall repeatedly. It's like no matter how much tutorials I watch, nobody is ACTUALLY showing how to deal with the hook and yarn frfr and it's so frustrating bro. I would quit but I have to make TWO projects which are due in Feb I'm literally about to scream LMBO
