My homebrew is the Revenant Legion. Inspired loosely from the Angry Marines, I thought: "What if a Blood Angel and their Red Thirst got the Butcher's Nails?" Their lore is that when Sanguinius reformed the Legion, a few (but sizable) amount resisted it and got exiled. In the lore the Revenant Legion worked closely with the Warhounds, and those guys are very brotherhoodly, so the exiled effectively got adopted into their culture. Then Angron came round, they went to get the Nails as a sign of loyalty to their Warhound brothers, and then whim wam Heresy happens. Warhounds turn traitor, Sanguinius dies. Black Rage. The Revenant Legion is left alone. When the great scouring occurs, they run after the traitors into the eye of terror too, as they have nothing left in the universe to fight for- exiled from the Imperium and their father, the only one who can redeem them, is dead. Prowled around in the Warp killing traitors and surviving *somehow* before the Fall of Cadia tore the galaxy in half and they got washed back to the shore of the material realm like a shipwreck winding up on a beach after a storm. Their design is effectively world eater heads (40K ones if helmetless, to show the Nails. 30k ones if helmeted, as it is their culture.) with armor absolutely painted with blood, since that's what the OG revenant legion did.

I'm whipping up a whole sector, my guy. So, naturally, I'm coming up with Space Marines (So far I've got the Pantherans (fleet-based time-travelers from a future that no longer exists, and whose whole fleet hasn't reemerged from the Warp yet), the Steel Tigers (Cyberpunk Cyborg Samurai), and most currently the Obsidian Knights (mysterious knightly chapter still rocking Heresy-Era kit (behind the scenes I made them to be descended from Blackshields)) so far) and Imperial Guard (Tholossian Deadborn Battalions, Jiroese Bushi Legions, Kulassia's Finest, the Twice-Summoned Legion, Vickarian Dragoon Brigades, Polypheman Hoplites, Nyctian Fury Guard, and the Varangian Guard (yes, it's a very original name, I know), and have been pondering up a Sassanid-themed regiment too) (I'm also making some Sisters of Battle that aren't literally just Order of Our Martyred Lady with a new coat of paint (Eastern-European-Themed Warriors venerating the locals' matron saint)). I've also been thinking up some xenos factions who are currently dominating the sector due to relentless politics causing infighting amongst the Imperials (the Vodaya Empire and the Car'Naram Lodge Clans are the most developed thus far). I'm even hoping to introduce some pirate factions into the mix.

There's also a Chaos Marine warband that was originally Deathwatch, some new Space Marines, and some guardsmen. I also have written up a Necron Dynasty that once ruled the oldest stars of the sector.

Done a bit of homebrew since the early 2000's. • Void Jackals: got gorkamorka'd, now isolationist, relatively low tech, have beef with some orks, work for a piratical rogue trader, Fallout/Mad Max themed, space/desert raiders, use space wolf rules; no wulfen, as many different kits and bits, scratchbuilt models and proxy vehicles as possible. • Jaguars of Perdition: friendly, Incan empire themed chapter, fortress monastery is a continent sized mountain range metropolis on a jungle death world, recruit from jungle tribes, train and coordinate with pdf and militia, use blood angels rules; started an army because I randomly made a giant spider Dreadnought wielding a hammer and I wanted models to go with it. • Crimson Venators: Red Hunters/a little WB ashen circle, cloned, mindwiped, made for exterminatus, all primaris, use Black Templars rules; I kinda dislike primaris models but had like 60 of them, so I made a primaris army. • Children of Sham: "loyalist" Fallen pretending to be Alpha Legion pretending to be Ravenguard, mostly do assassinations, political purges, lots of sternguard and vanguard vets, all the drop pods, triple mortis Dreadnoughts, proxies for my thunderhawk and storm eagle; when I was like 14 I kept thinking about the 30k Firewing and 40k Relictors, and started a warband of loyalist Fallen/Dark Angel's because of it. My first army. • Sons of Angrboda: Renegade space wolves, wild hunt theme, live in the Eye of Terror, originally a great company that went looking for Russ and FAFO, now original group of surviving members/leaders work for minor warp gods until the Wolftime; this is unnecessarily fleshed out at this point, they use Black Legion rules.

Technically, the larger group is called Combat Team Epsilon-Rho, which is a group of technically three regiments organized into one 'block' for easy use in various tactical situations. As well, it isn't always appropriate to send a whole regiment of guardsmen at the sort of targets that a specialist Drop Trooper regiment might attack. It also consists of the veskixite 3rd Airmobile Armor 'spearhead' and the Imperial Navy aeronatiuca 432nd ground attack wing. I did an imperial fist successor by the name of the Wardens of Sol. They are fleet based chapter that attached themselves to any imperial fleet they can find. Most of the time, they are floating about looking for stuff to smash, but they are considered weird. How weird, you ask? For an imperial fist successor chapter, they're super nice and then to prioritize protecting citizens and cities over military targets. But really, the biggest thing that makes them weird to everyone else is how they are just...... there. Really, there are no records or anything. They just do. Had an idea for a spaghetti Western themed space marine chapter called, "The Lone Rangers". A fleet based chapter, on a penitence crusade. They specialize in firearms, lone operative deploments, and using outriders. They look like they came out of an old Clint Eastwood movie, cowboy hat, parcha, spires, and their guns are modified so they resemble old firearms used in those films. They always end up aiding imperial worlds that are being raided. And once they threat is gone, like the cowboys of old Terra, will ride off into the sunset, as mysteriously as they came.

I have White Scars successor homebrew "Thorns of the Emperor". They are new Primaris Chapter in Ultima Segmentum with homeworld of Patria bordering Tau Empire which they tend to fight constantly. (Old 2nd edition home planet of Fists of Lagus Guard Regiment GW hasnt used for 30 years.) They were founded during Ultima Founding, but their brother chapter of Storm Lords did send few firstborn veterans to teach them their ways and culture, and they were intergrated in to the chapter. Thorns of the Emperor quickly after being established were brought to Patria to defend agaisnt the Tau and Kroot assaults, in which the inexperienced Primaris lost over half of their chapter to Taus superior weaponry, so they adapted and changed tactics. Now instead of fast bike and speeder focus, they are more focused on mobile snipers, phobos units alongside vanguard/assault units and favour ambush and encirclement tactics. Their colour scheme is white with blue trim, and their chapter logo is close to that of White Scars but it has blue triangle around the White Scars symbol.

Slap them in an aspect suit and take away their empathy while imbuing them with multiple lives of combat knowledge, and they are deadly. You gave me an idea for a bunch Space marine chapters. My first idea is a salamander succesor chapter named the Ashen Wyverns. They started as a mostly veteran composed chapter of salamander marines that were a small company of the main legion during the heresy that later in search of the relics of vulkan decided to venture in the warp. The chapter in itself fought long and hard against the chaos marines but ultimately perished at the hands of khornite and slaaneshi demons, their armor adorned with the remains of their enemies as a fear tactic, they managed to stay true to their will thanks to the humanity vulkan had passed onto every salamander. They were the gentlest with humans but the most cruel and brutal against their enemies. Their color palette of their armor of worn out metal, with a opaque gold and dark green in their armor indicative of the years they spent in the warp, eventually their armors would be laid adrift recovered by the grey knights near a chaos infested world. Eventually the chapter restarted with the new primaris now dawning the insignia of a wyvern, as they specialized in the hunting of titanic demons and other dangerous creatures, essenially chaos resistent monster hunters. I also got an idea for the blood angels, the chapter this time being a newly formed chapter during the ultima founding, this chapter was made as a form of tribute to dante's deeds as the chapter sees him as what the blood angels should strive to be in many aspects, they eventually dawn a prominent pale painting on their armor with silver ornamentation for their veterans and a bright red details as how their other brothers have it. They are trained by veterans of the blood angels legion to control their thirst but also to harness it, via the training on the death guard and in the special case of their chapter master, being shown the ways of harness and restrain by dante himslef. They are diciplined warriors with an unyielding desire to show the imperium that the angels are more than just ticking time bombs. They vowed to become the best among them, as the name of their chapter Implies. They are the Unbroken Seraphims, a chapter that tries to lead the example for the rest of their legion, one that will either rise to battle or ravage the entire land as they draw near their deaths. I also got more ideas but they aren't that solid still, great video and I will come back when i make more homebrew factions for Warhammer ^^

@@claypigeon7063 Hi, sorry I didn't see this sooner. Also, this'll be my first time writing out most of what I've thought up for my chapter, so excuse me if it's a little... all over the place. I've mostly just had their story in my head. The chapter's story starts over the world of Ghenna, when Angron ordered the Butcher's Nails to be implanted into their legion. The future First Chapter Master, having sided with Mago and the other Loyalist Legionaries, did not send any of his brothers under his command down to the planet in order to confront Angron, for he feared they would be massacred. As it turned out, he was correct in that assumption, and withdrew from the system with the single ship under his command. However, Warp shenanigans spat them out a few thousand years later, despite it feeling so much shorter for them. They wandered space, believing themselves Renegade, for a few hundred years, until they arrived over a planet in Ultramar space. There, they spotted a Word Bearer ship currently sieging the planet, hailing it they discover something very disturbing. The Word Bearer commander screeches at "Angron's Boys" and how he will not allow them to murder their slaves and how his men had fought hard for the population of this world. The commander listened to the Word Bearer commander speak of his 'Dark Gods' and how the 'Sacrifices' from this world would be a worthy tribute to them. He calmly told the Word Bearer that he would send some of his men down to the planet to 'assist' before cutting contact and ordering his ship to slowly get into position near the Word Bearer ship and sends his men behind the lines of the Word Bearers as they were sieging one of the cities on the planet. As soon as the Loyalist Astartes make planetfall the commander orders his ship to open fire on the Word Bearer ship, decimating it before it can respond. After the Word Bearers were dealt with the Commander, an Astartes by the name of Endrin, headed down to the planet to speak with whoever was defending the planet, discovering that a chapter of Ultramarines had been garrisoned there, but had been almost completely wiped out. After some discussions the World Eaters were integrated into the chapter and disguised as the Ultramarine successor chapter. The world was covered in Ash, due to constant volcanic activity that never seemed to cross over into full blown eruptions, but it was a nice place to lived. Almost too nice, as the passiveness borne from the lack of 'valuable targets' lead them to believe their world would never be a target. After the Heretic Astartes, however, they became a much more militaristic society. Becoming Spartan-esque in their societal structure as just about all men and women were raised to believe military service was the greatest honor one could experience. Infants of various prodigious households were given to either the Astartes, if they were male, or the Sororitas convent that arrived on the world, if they were female. The chapter, feeling grateful for their warm welcome from the population of the world did not simply take their children, but recorded the names of each aspirant to be returned to the households, or hometowns, if the aspirant so wished once they became a full Astartes. They were even allowed to go see their families every once in a while if they chose. Although it was rare simply due to them being most often off world. After many centuries of service, Endrin was interred into a Dreadnaught, having been mortally wounded by Traitor World Eaters, and stepped down as the First Chapter Master. Himself, along with the remaining First Born World Eaters, those who were there at Ghenna, went into stasis and became known as "0 Company". Only First Company would know of them, and know of the Chapters origins as World Eaters. However, as a Chapter, they strove to embody what Angron once was, what he was created to be by the Emperor himself. Paladins. Just before the Primaris program was revealed, the Chapter suffered a great defeat. The 7th company, having been sent down to a world to purge it of Chaos Cultists, were ambushed by World Eaters. A distress signal was sent out, asking for aid by any nearby companies, and the 5th, 6th, and 8th companies all came to assist them, but were met by only the corpses of their brothers. The World Eaters had laid out a trap, and attacked the 3 companies. It was only by luck that the 1st company was nearby and arrived later, assaulting the World Eaters and driving them back. In the end, they lost around 300 Astartes, not including all of 7th company. When they arrived back to their homeworld to lick their wounds, they were greeted by the news of someone coming to drop off the new batch of Primaris reinforcements. They thought it sent by the God Emperor himself, but first company, knowing their ancient history, feared being discovered as not being Ultramarines. But they decided that if that were true, they would simply go peacefully, as loyalists. Their fears of Guilliman himself descending upon their world to exact judgement did not come to pass, as it was a Custodian instead. Their numbers swelled to double and the creation of several new companies was required. 7th company, instead of being made up of all Primaris, had a mix of Astartes from several other companies and Primaris, which was done to make sure the Primaris themselves could integrate a bit better. Although, it was discovered that the Primaris reinforcements did, in fact, have World Eater geneseed, revealing to First Company that their secret wasn't theirs alone.

@@ValenWarden if I may make a suggestion? They're the War Born. It honors both the lineage of the Ultramarines who welcomed them into the fold (the original name of the Thirteenth was the War-Born), and a subtle reference to their own roots as War Hounds before Angron did his thing. I'd be tempted to have them use either the Ultramarines Blue torso and White pauldrons or White torso and Ultramarines Blue pauldrons, since one was the original War Hounds color scheme and the other was the original World Eaters color scheme, but both are completely believable looks for Ultramarines Successors. Sort of a "hiding it in plain sight" approach.

They were made to conquer a gang infested hive world at a key trade point, but the gangs actually repelled their assaults. So they infiltrated the gangs to take them over from the inside, but the cultural contamination ran both ways. After the chapter master failed the rubicon primaris, the chapter's companties shifted into 200ish-strong cliques based on the largest gangs. Color scheme is bright green with orange and silver secondaries. Original chapter symbol is the BA sign but a green venom themed drop instead of blood but each sub-gang uses thrir own symbol. Very big on combat drugs. Combat tactics are similar to BA, but one subgang prefers flamers and another has a Speed Freaks vibe. Mixed gender roster because necromunda escher models are too cool not to use as scouts.

I got 2 fleshed out ideas, the later I’m trying to paint, kinda…I’m still new okay!!!😭did my best to not be cringe. The Eyes in the Storm- A Chapter of Space marines of an unknown founding. They are speculated to be a chimeric mix of White Scars and Salamanders. Specializing in specialization and Environmental warfare. Particularly in use of ancient cloud seeding technology to generate massive storms to bombard their enemies, or their fortifications, before swooping in to finish them off. They are a fleet based chapter and travel as one as their make up benefits greatly by picking and choosing necessary squads from the companies per engagement. Rarely are they separated from each other. Be it infiltrating in the middle of a storm to take the enemy by surprise, or picking out the survivors amongst the wreckage of a natural disaster they caused, none are truly ready when they arrive. They’re also experts in navigating very hazardous environments and extreme weather phenomena, be it hurricane winds, endless rain storms, violent seas or severe drought they can out last them all. They poses great determination and ingenuity, able to act as both a unit and as individuals. Each company has a specialty similar to and reminiscent of the formations of the Dark Angels with the Death Wing, Raven wing, Green Wing, and Fire Wing. They also have a great sense of responsibility, for every world they free, for every rebellion snuffed out, for every natural environment they destroy. They make sure to leave some of their servants and a small share of their resources behind so that they can help in rebuilding. That way the maintain a connection with the people of the imperium and ensure loyalty with the Imperium. Often when they return seeking aid in new aspirants they’ll often get a long line of volunteers. Their Chaplains are always on the look out for the corruption and doubt but also false bravery. Space marines know no fear but when you send any being into the worst and terrifying events nature has to offer it affects then no matter how super human they are. Their librarians are well versed in weather changing spells and elemental attacks. Their apothecaries are expert meteorologists but also skilled in life saving first aid and surgery for those they save. Their chapter sigil is a Terminator Helmet in the eye of a cyclone. Their armor is normally blackish grey however their armor is stained with the wear, muck and rain from their long use. You aren’t seen as a true eye with a clean suit of armor. Chapter Master- The Tempest- A title passed down to each who hold the rank Command Squad- The Thunder- Elite veteran marines equipped with the chapters finest wargear. 1st Company- The Typhoon- Terminator Squads/Veteran Vanguard and Sternguard Squads 2nd Company- The Hurricane- Rapid Deployment/Aerial Superiority/Hit and Run 3rd Company- The Downpour- drop pod assaults/ship boarding, raiding tactics, Shock tactics 4th Company- The Magnitude- Siege Warfare/Demonlitions/Fortifications 5th Company- The Storms Eye- Search and Rescue/Asset Recovery/Evacuations 6th Company- The Tsunami- Infantry/Heavy Infantry/Mechanized Infantry 7th Company- The Tornado- Jack of all trades 8th Company- The Whirlpool- Melee/Close Quarters/Shock Tactics/Terror Tactics 9th Company- The Eruption- Tanks/Artillery/long range fire support 10th Company- The Breeze- Scouts/ Stealth/Infiltration/Sabotage/Sniping The Razorbacks- A chapter of an unspecified founding and a Marines Errant successor chapter. Like their parent chapter they’re very flexible and proudly serve where ever they’re needed. But ultimately they’re a bunch of power armor wearing hillbillies. The come from a hardy stock of an agri world in the Ultimata Segmentum’s boonies. A world of mountains and swamps, with rich soil and lots of natural gasses and trees. The people there are simple folk. While they talk funny there is more than meets the eye. While not a death world, the local fauna and flora aren’t the most kindly sort so they had to be good at fighting, the ancient human colonists that live there was mostly made of scientists, so they aren’t lacking in tech or in brain power in fact they even had not one but three STC fragments. And despite being a space marines homeworld, they happily pay their tithe cause that’s what good neighbors do. Reasonable and hospitable but they don’t take kindly to the sorts that look down on them. Warriors that are skilled grapplers as well as accomplished marksmen and hunters. Often to join the ranks of the razorbacks they have to wrestle the large mean eater boar like beasts without weapons or armor. After the fight they must skin and butcher the beast as a sign of respect to it and craft a leather cloak from it. The marines then donate the meat to the adept’s original community. The cloak fashioned from the boars skin is a ceremonial garment worn during very prestigious events such as funerals or rank advancements or ceremonies. Razorbacks are codex compliant but tend to prefer manuverability of bikes and speeders, ace marksmanship, and hunter killer teams. The razorbacks also make some of the only other liquor that can get a space marine drunk, a type of gin that is based off of a grain that’s found only on their home planet. A mellow citrus and juniper flavor that pairs well with carbonated water but it has not nearly as deadly compared to Fenrisian Mjød. It taking a several large oil barrels worth to get a space marine drunk, however it allows it to be consumed by mortals but only when watered down especially with tonic water. They work hard, they like their guns and their vehicles and their booze, and they never say no to kin in need.

Did a homebrew chapter a while back. Advancers were found near the Great Rift during the Indomitus Crusade by a Mechanicus fleet. While the original gene seed was Ultramarines, they were given Primaris with Iron Warriors gene seed because they were the only Primaris on hand. Nothing more heartwarming than getting your dad's second cousin's thrice removed uncle's hand-me-downs. After getting their fleet repaired and sporting a new red-gold-black color scheme, they yeeted themselves into Imperium Nihilus, intent on finishing their original Penitent Crusade in T'au Space.

Don't care enough about Space Marines to Homebrew my own entirely so i just steal the 6th Company of the Excorcists chapter and say they have operations in the Calixis sector so they can get into funny situations with my actual Homebrew Ork Empire that sits right on a chokepoint between Major Chaos-held territory and the Calixis sector proper. The Ork Warlord has enough cunning to work with an Inquisitor to keep Imperial Attention off his back in exchange for keeping chaos at bay. He's made himself into some kind of Mercenary Contracts hub for Freebooters and also master of technology on his own Orky Forgeworld knockoff, and goes on WAAAGH's every decade or so such that Ork population never reaches critical mass and goes beyond his control. He is generally seen as being horribly Unorky due to understanding the terrifying concepts of "using your brain", "tactics", and even "diplomacy". But is big and killy enough that most Orks in his Empire go along with him. He also wields a Daemon Sword, because he stole it just as it was finished from some Iron Warriors whose Leader is now MEGA SALTY about that because he put a lot of work into it trying to recreate Dracn'yen by fostering a Chimeric Daemon of Genocide out of getting lesser alien races to murder each other for centuries. The Daemon Sword for its part doesn't care and just likes that it gets fed blood and souls. Is it Cringe, maybe, but it is also funny to me. And i'm the only person who cares about it so that's all that matters.

I normally play Nids, but I'm wanting to play Guard, and I needed a good measuring stick for showing off just how big things are when letting people I know see the models that don't know 40k sizing. So I made an entire Space Marines chapter, a world for them, and their associated world's Guard regiments (which focus on aircraft and artillery because it's an agri-world and so they have to practice with vehicles that won't destroy the croplands). The Astartes chapter are a blended founding between Ultramarines (who provided the gene-seed), but were mostly instructed by available Salamanders (resulting in some... interesting ideas about how to be Space Marines). They are, for the most part, good people as far as Astartes go, and aren't blindly xenophobic due to a reduced amount of Imperial Meddling thanks to their planet being a massively productive agri-world. The Guard regiments from this world are... concerningly full of abhumans, but at least they're very, very devout.

I was thinking about making a homebrew chapter, guard regiment, eldar craftworld, votann, and tau sept that work together for lore reasons that I’m working on. The homebrew chapter would be a mix of all other chapters (or whatever chapter I feel like making) that for whatever reason no longer apart of that chapter(example being said chapter is destroyed and they were survivors or were banished or simply joined because lol reasons) and the same can go for the guard regiments, craftworld, tau sept, and votann as well. Basically they are all ran by either by an inquisitor who is more radical and pretty chill with specific xenos and/or a rogue trader while the xenos faction have their respective leaders too. On a morality scale they lean on good and just want to help people survive the grimdark future and try to make a living. In a nutshell this only exist because I’m indecisive on what chapter and regiment I want so I’m trying to make shit to do whatever I want but trying to do it where it will both make sense and it’s not cringe, while working on making grimdark but not depressing. Also the chapter is both firstborn and primaris because like I said they take whoever, I did hear that one page rules makes it easy to use firstborn or old unit for each faction so I’ll probably try that to while working around Gdubs love for removing/nerfing fun things (there’s some forgeworld and Horus heresy stuff that looks cool and would be fun but they said no fun aloud). Oh and my imperial forces are black primary with purple secondary and gold trim while my xenos faction will be purple primary with black secondary and gold trim. And advice on making this not cringe would help thx😅.

I have a loyalist World Eaters chapter Knighs Penitent, colours of Morghast bone, candor sky and Redemptor armour. They're a second founding chapter but appear on Imperiums records around the third founding. They work closely with the Dark Angels because Lion El Johnson discovered them after their ships came out of the warp having been lost since the start of the crusade.

I was thinking into creating a homebrew SM Chapter, a imperial fist/ ultramarine chimerical seed, that focus on protection and improvement of agricultural world In battle work as a logistics and morale boost to imperial regiment Its chapter master is one of the few space marine with a belly, Aside from regular training their neophytes also recive training in agricultural logistics Their test is to turn a desecrated world into a liveable space with a bag of seeds, They been fighting the tyranid almost nonstop, as agricultural world are fairly targeted The color scheme would be orange and green and the simbol the cornucopia (or a futuristic cornucopia) No idea on the name to be honest

You know I do have the idea of cyber dragon people that are also Tau/Eldar hybrids and utilize treeborgs and shadow creatures/contstructs in their forces. I've got three homebrew guard regiments but really I only show the infantry regiment any love 115th cadian Infantry regiment; a cadian regiment from before the 13th black crusade who was lost in warp travel to the 2nd war for Armageddon and only recently appeared from warp travel, after taking so many losses from re-entry they're now an amalgamation of different regiments that's just mostly Cadian 906th cadian artillery: fought genestealers once, fought on Armageddon once. 703rd armored; Fought the tau once I *do* eventually want to add some stuff that may be considered cringe eventually, I want like one felinid guardsman just because I think it'd be funny to see a catgirl guardsman obliterate something with a plasma pistol & power sword

An attempt at some lore for SM homebrew (dont have an army for SM yet) was the Angels Scarred, using pre heresy world eaters colors but of Blood Angels geneseed thats quirk was that before every battle they would have a sworn brother gouge their armor, hence the scarred part My guard regiment that I actually play however are 841/22nd Tertiia Combined Shock Regiment, a way in my mind to mesh the older sculpt guardsmen and the new guardsmen models, that the older models were of the 22nd Valiancius engineers using cadian standard style equipment, combined with the new freshly raised 841st Tertiian Shock Regiment which was raised out of penal regiment status and wear Orange flak armor and black fatigues. I havent come up with lore for my tempestus scions but I painted them like napoleonic cuirassiers because the aesthetic felt right.

@@GeneralBradley101VA Here's what Rick Priestley AKA John 40k had to say about the matter; turns out we're both wrong: BIFFORD: A popular belief among fans is that you left those two Legions blank so that players of Horus Heresy games could invent their own Legions. Is this true? PRIESTLEY: I left them blank before Horus Heresy games were conceived! I left them blank because I wanted to give the story some kind of deep background - unknowable ten thousand year old mysteries - stuff that begs questions for which there could be no answer. Mind you all that got ruined when some bright spark decided to use the Heresy setting - which rather spoiled the unknowable side of things - but there you go! BIFFORD: Ah, this is going to amaze a lot of people on Reddit PRIESTLEY: Is it? :) BIFFORD: Yep, everyone there thinks you left two Legions blank for players to fill in. PRIESTLEY: Well - I created a thousand Chapters - of which we only gave details of a dozen or so - so there were nine hundred odd Chapters left blank for people to fill in. In the original 40K that is! The Horus Heresy stemmed from a short piece of narrative text I wrote - I think it was in Chapter Approved: The Book of the Astronomican - but I never imagined it would be used for a game setting. The trouble with the Heresy as envisaged by GW is it just feels like 40K - it doesn't have the feel of a genuinely different society that ten thousand years separation would give you. Whenever I wrote anything that referenced back to those times I always wrote in a legendary, non-literal style. It's as if you were dealing with something like the Iliad rather than literal history - and there you're only talking three thousand years - ten thousand years - that takes us back to the end of the last ice-age... and I don't get any sense of understanding about 'deep time' when I look at anything GW have set in the 40K 'past'.

To Pancreasnowork ignore warhammer's lore and say only what he want from the verse what is against warhammer just like Commisar Gammza who use outdated lore.
