So everything went absolutely perfect until about 15:45 when he goes to the homebrew browser. It’s just not on my screen… idk what to do from here… edit I just went back on the website because it’s a little different now. Turns out you also have to download the binary which is a separate download and put that in the homebrew folder

I should mention that if your doing a restore, please seek out some help, even something as simple as a power flicker could brick your wii

As someone who likes to understand what I'm doing before doing it. I was wondering why these four specific IOS/WAD files are needed? Since there seem to be a lot of versions in the NUS tool. Without any prior knowledge it seems to be quite the gamble what needs to be done there. :-)

The wad files manually install the needed files for the CIOS installer which let's you play games from an HDD All the different stuff you see in the NUS tool are for different versions and regions of the wii

Hey, So quick question, a couple years ago we did the original home brew, well I chimed in and checked out KZbin for back up support. Anyways, I just found it (Had the Switch, miss it..whole other story) and plugged it up and Home brew is on there. I see games on the console memory, and nothing on the homebrew screen...Tried to do the letter bomb thought it was an up date??? IT isn't my forte. That didn't work. I turned it off. Should I just start all over? What would one go about doing that if she isn't looking for anything crazy? Just a little old school Zelda, Mario, you know the classics. Thanks. You should just be able to connect the console to the internet and it should perform a system update. If not, I believe the letter bomb site will let you choose. 4.2 instead of 4.3

I followed step by step and everything is working perfect now (i had a little trouble with the network initializing. Had to restart a few times, but one it worked, it works everytime now). From this point, is there a way to mount .ISO from my SD folder where I store them? I saw another video about flash drive ISO mounting, but I keep all the ISO in a folder on my SD.

I had to use an actual SD card, not a micro SD with an adapter to install cIOS. Those wouldnt work. I tried about 8 different Micro SDs all FAT32 formatted. It took a 4gb SD card from 12 years ago to get the job done.

@BelowAverageGaming I've watched a few other vids of guys doing the same walk-through you did and they've said SD cards as well and used micros in their stead. I don't think anyone has been pronounced in their statement of SD cards and that " Micro SD cards won't work. Even in Reddit or on Discord Wii Hacks no one has said no microSDs when troubleshooting cIOS errors. You have a GREAT walk-through. It's the best I've seen yet and I've watched ALOT of them. You should be setup. I'm sure there's some other homebrew applications/external applications that you'll want to use but yes you 100% should be able to. Also, what's the name of the Ebay vendor who is selling them? Cuerious to see what the price is! Hope you HB your Wii successfully :)

Homebrew browser is the only thing not working. Has and “error-9” and just keeps retrying. I’m thinking the Wii isn’t keeping a stable connection with my newer modem. I did get some roms to launch tho. Can’t download covers. I’ll either get a Wii lan adapter or figure out how to upload everything manually. 🤷🏻

Does the SD card have to be formatted to FAT32? Would formatting as exFAT work? I don't have FAT32 as an option since I have a 116GB SD card.

It needs to be fat32. For SD cards over 32gb you can use a tool called "Fat32 format GUI" to format bigger cards to fat32 ridgecrop.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

When this happens, it's most likely a problem with the SD card. You can try reformatting the card to fat32 or try using a different SD card altogether. Only other thing you can do is try redownloading the CIOS installer, it's possible maybe the download got corrupted Does your SD card have a lock switch on it? Make sure it's not locked

That depends how modified your system is. If you have a custom theme and wads installed I wouldn't recommend deleting anything. Is there a reason you want to start from scratch?

Towards the end there were a lot of options that weren't accessible and errors that you didn't address. So much for "working 2024". Not everyone has access to a wii before the bootmii patch.

I'd recommend you try the guide again, especially since this guide follows the official written guide, which includes both the patched and unpatched models. The only difference is being able to select boot 1 or boot 2 which both don't matter for the install process. You've also had two other people tell you it works and you called them liars instead of testing it out yourself lol
