I'm a beginner, and MAN the way you break down these concepts is so helpful. Had to cone back to your earlier videos and start from the ground up

Your video made something go "click" in my head! I tried working on my release specifically this evening, and there were times where I finally "got it"! Now, to make it consistent (and add it to my work on my swing path, and footwork, and timing... so many different moving parts with consequences downstream)!

Yes! When you practice, it's so important to think about and really process those events as you trial and error your way through. "Wait, woah, that felt good..." Also, as you said, going back and putting it all together is very important! This was something I overlooked when learning. Keep going!

i mean… coaches and pro bowler always told us “keep your hand behind the ball” we just dont understand it at all ! it really just so simple but years ago all those video are telling us to do the hand shake, or 4 to 12pm like a clock. all those are only useful to add more rotation AFTER you learn how to release the ball. which Randy P did talk about “uncuck your wrist” but bro it was a painful way to do it if we did not do it right. EJ really did change the bowling world for 1 hander showing us how it was done effortlessly

Yep! I agree 👋🏻 When I was first teaching myself, you could say I spent a decent amount of time understanding how to really clear the thumb out of the bowling ball and that essentially helped me transition to learning everything else after that! It's so important to build a strong foundation for everything to develop! 💪🏻

Great info Soup. I want to see more clips of your 2 handed bowling from before. I myself switch from one hand with thumb to 2 handed just this summer. And have enjoyed the process. You are doing great bowling 1 handed with thumb so keep it up.

I am also trying to learn the yo yo release. But I am having a hell of a time keeping my hand behind the ball. my hand no matter how hard I try keeps eeking its way around the side (bc thats how I bowled for 20 years) Ive done nothing but no step and 1 step throws for probably 2 months now. Any major break through moments you had w this that might help me?

One really good one is focusing on having the bowling ball stay on the area between the index finger and middle finger. At the point in which they meet, drop down about an inch, focus on having the bowling ball maintain contact with that region. Now, you can get into the no step drill position, do a couple mini swings (like smaller than you think) and really try to maintain strong contact with that "V" area between your index finger and middle finger until the ball is completely off your hand! Give it a few tries, take it easy and just let everything unravel (roll)!

Lemme help you out a little brotha I get exactly what you’re trying to say and it’s premium content. However lemme help you with certain terms in bowling and their meaning cuz it can get quite confusing to your average league bowler or just bowler for fun. We no longer impart lift on a ball but simply roll it off the hand for more consistent reaction or in todays game we say don’t hit up on the ball because the action requires you to do just that hit the ball upwards and you lose speed that way. Hooking is something the ball does on it’s according to its own specs of core and coverstock and is referring to the front and mid lane ability to read in the oil whether it’ll be stronger or weaker in the oil, NOT the backend. Too much hook and the ball will burn up and not have any backend and too little and the ball will not hook as well and give you a check mark backend or uncontrollable. The other part of that equation is how much axis rotation you use with your hand or turning your hand to roll the ball in degrees on the side of the ball or up the back. The more axis or sideways the more you delay the hook of the ball and the more up the back the more the ball will hook earlier. To conclude lol how a ball responds on the backends is how much it hooks in the front of the lane. People misinterpret a balls motion when they only look at how much backend is created. It all starts in the fronts you want more backend the more you have to shape a ball by created more side rotation. Hope this helps keep up the good work.

Lol yes! Thank you for clarifying + more! There was actually a clip I decided not to include regarding the term and how it should be used more so to describe what’s happening on the lane and you literally explained it so well. Cheers!

@@bowlersoup I’m glad you didn’t think I stepped on your toes. Just a bowling nerd and coach trying my best to interpret bowling to every bowler, but it can be a lot of information to take in. You would actually be surprised how many pros really don’t know a lot of the information but rely heavily on ball reps it’s pretty crazy.

You are 100% to let the ball do the work, just let it roll off the hand , when I do it right! It’s a perfect shot and then the muscle memory forgets
@Dainslaif8 ай бұрын
I think a better way of saying what you're trying to get across is thst people should be trying to get their hand around the ball a little and then roll the ball forward instead of just trying to get their hand around and up the side of the ball. To put it into terms people can visualize, it's like tossing a football underhanded - to get the spiral you get your hand on the side and roll it off your fingers.
