Found a portable dishwasher without a clue on how to hook it up because of my pull down faucet. Googled how to hook up with a pull down faucet and found your video. Works perfect with no leaks. Only difference is I needed the smaller adapter (Danco 10506) for the snap on connection. Thank you!!!

Terrific way to have the advantage of a separate spray faucet and dishwasher hook-up! I highly recommend it! When I was faced with the same situation, I bought a second-hand, single post, 90-degree angle vanity faucet - just had to make sure it had a removable aerator that the screw-in snap adapter for the hose coupler would screw into. With a hole saw, I then made a new opening on the far side of my kitchen sink and installed the faucet. It's much the same as this, but it was more complicated work, and cost about $50 worth of materials including the vanity faucet. The only difference is that the coupler will drain downwards into the sink.

What is the part that holds the new valve attached to the sink hole

Chrome plated ring used to dress (cover) a shower outlet pipe hole. It fits tight on shower pipe and will be snug on the utility faucet hiding any blemishes while providing a washer like support.

How did you come off the main? A Tee? I have a Project Source pull down faucet, and can get a stainless steel portable dishwasher for $75. It's basically brand new. But I don't know how to hook it up other than what you did. I have a soap dispenser as well. So that can go.
@Wiretalker2 жыл бұрын
Yes I hooked up a 3/8 tee on mine that went to hot water source and faucet feed. Check measurements for the size you need.

Does the dishwasher fitting always leak when connected horizontally?
@Wiretalker Жыл бұрын
Not if the connection is good. The quick connect should seal my quick connect was on a really old dishwasher and it still sealed good once I used it a few times.

How is it holding up? I hooked mine up originally like this but a slow leak deformed part of the counter top. I switched to a hose splitting off from the hotwater under the sink. it's a bit of a pain but it keeps any leaks inside the sink
@Wiretalker Жыл бұрын
I used clear silicone inside the decorative ring that was allowed to harden like a gasket. Water stayed on the stainless surface. I did not have many issues but would wipe up any water when I put the dishwasher back up. The silicone on the trim ring did not show outside the ring.

What about getting a hose pipe connector end that fits the hot water hose and connect that to the black hose with a hose clamp and the bottom drain hose can just lay in the sink. Would that work?
@Wiretalker3 жыл бұрын
It would but the connector you cut off are very expensive should you ever need it again.

Well you did not show water line and spigot hookup from spray nozzle. Also the way you have it hooked will shoot the drain water discharge straight out and miss the sink?.. did i miss part of the video?

I like your setup. I would like to see the undercounter plumbing to understand that also.
@Wiretalker3 жыл бұрын
The under the counter was cluttered and dark so I did not get to video so sorry. Basic rundown the hot and cold have braided lines usually 3/8 fitting so with supply water off you remove the hot line (run water til cold gets cold and hot gets hot first) it will be warmer. Then add a tee to the hot supply side that has two male and one female end. Then connect the hot faucet line on top. The remaining line will be for your new spigot 3/8 line with an adapter that fits your utility spigot. Hope this helps. I will try to do a recap video of the entire setup.
@RoccoDemonikDeLuca Жыл бұрын
And when the tub goes to drain, water is gonna shoot right over your sink and onto the floor. You need a 90 bend so the coupler will shoot down into the sink when the machine enters the drain cycle.
@stasiawierzbicki2679 Жыл бұрын
Could you cut the drain hose then figure out something to point it down towards the drain?
@Wiretalker Жыл бұрын
@stasiawierzbicki2679 lots of people worry about the the angle. Drain has no real pressure and goes right into the sink. As for faucet pressure it is not meant to be a second tap the original purpose was to hook up the dishwasher without cutting the now almost $100 fitting off the dish washer. The second purpose was to be able to use the faucet as a way to water house plants with a hose attached. If fitted to the adapter well the dishwasher works as designed fill and flush. As a tap with hose and sprayer it also works great. I hack a lot of stuff but to prevent costly replacement or expensive risk to house I kept it as designed only adding function.

@@Wiretalker Thank you for the quick and detailed response. I think I figured something out that will work, I'll know for sure tomorrow. It isn't the prettiest, but it should work. :D

If you buy some rubber gasket material or make a seal with clear silicone where the trim meets the sink no worries. I had to tighten mine a couple times where it worked loose but my drain fill hose was short and strained the connection. It worked great otherwise!

www.lowes.com/pd/AMERICAN-VALVE-2-in-L-1-2-in-Mnpt-Brass-Washing-Machine-Valve/1000468843 it is inexpensive and works well. I have seen the chrome ring gets loose so a way to lock it in place and a small amount of clear silicone or a large rubber washer will prevent a leak from runoff while portable dishwasher is connected. Other than that it is still going strong. You should make sure the dishwasher hookup is long enough to reach the back of the sink. There have been no issues of the drainage escaping the sink.

Idk how to hook up a sprayer hose line to make this faucet setup. Could you help explain that also?
@Wiretalker3 жыл бұрын
From faucet to dishwasher is a special hose all adapters are mentioned in the video that go from spigot to that hose. There are three types of hose quick connects so you may have to buy a different final adapter for the hose fitting.

What was the actual size/name of the coupler that you referenced second. The female/male one that attaches to the spigot? I'm trying to rig a portable to a laundry hookup in my basement, and need that piece, but my local store didn't seem to have anything that fit, however, I was assuming it would be female/female until I noticed the inside threads. Now that I see your setup, I think that's what I need. Would love to just grab something online, but am not sure what to actually search form

Drain worked perfectly no mess. A gasket or a silicone seal made and cured 24hrs will keep any water when disconnecting from seeping below sink. Just make sure it’s mounted as tight as possible without buckling rings.

My gawd! Why don’t you just get a little tiny single handle bathroom faucet and hook it up to that? surely 50 or 60 bucks is worth the headache that you would save yourself. When you go to release that valve it’s gonna give you a bath every time…You know, the little red pressure valve that spits out water when you disconnect it? As far as draining the thing just cut the drain hose loose and let it drain into the sink.
@Wiretalker Жыл бұрын
Keeping the dishwasher connections intact was the first goal. The other issue is the connection to a bathroom faucet is not correct and many of those faucets today are plastic and not designed to take the vibrations or weight coming from a dishwasher hose. Using a kitchen sink any water loss will travel back into the sink but if the connection is firm no loss. The drain is not an issue it drains into the sink from the fitting. The $50 or $60 bucks you speak of may work great as an extra faucet especially if you can get it to match. It won’t work as a utility faucet to connect a hose to water plants or clean something larger than the sink. But I look forward to your video showing your completed work functioning flawlessly be sure to come back and post the link.

Great question most hardware stores will have a laundry valve which normally go in the washer dryer wall boxes now. The ring is for going around a shower pipe at the wall but two can be used as washers for this project!
