In this video I show how I hypnotize my yellow sided green cheek conure Yoshi! Hope you enjoy this video BirbSquad!!! It can be very difficult and frustrating at times when you're trying to calm your conure. Especially if you have a green cheek conure like mine!!! Yoshi is all over the place and is very high energy. That is why its very important for me to know how to calm my conure. In case your green cheek gets spooked or an emergency situation in general occurs, you as the owner need to be able to regain control over the situation. By knowing how to calm my green cheek conure, I am able ultimately help him and keep him safe.
This video is also a little prequel ( I guess you'd call it lol) to my next video that goes more in depth as to why I do this with my birds. I will be showing you how I implement these tactics into my everyday routine. So for my next video to make sense, I figured I would show you how I 'hypnotize' and calm my bird to prepare for these tactics to be used throughout various times during the day.
Hope you enjoyed this video BirbSquad and let me know if it works for you!!! Also comment any questions you may have and I will do my best to help you :)

Good Afternoon BirbSquad!!! Hope you enjoy this video on how I 'hypnotize' my yellow sided green cheek conure Yoshi!! It is the coolest feeling in the world to be able to naturally calm your birb down with your hands. Let me know if you do anything similar or give it a try. I can kind of , sort of, do that with my Quaker, not as hypnotized as Yoshi, and it takes a little coaxing, I have to give her a warning so she knows or I get bit, she doesn't like surprises

Hi. I tried it with my green cheek and it works well. I can actually feel how he starts to relax as I hold him. He doesn't have a mate so I was just wondering if this trick might cause him to think this is more mating type bahaviour rather than just to calm him down? Don't want to continue if this might cause more harm than good.
@VictoriaRyann
@VictoriaRyann 5 жыл бұрын
@@danelroux1950 so glad it was working with you and your birdy as well!!! Yeah I'd be leery doing this when you notice him starting to be hormonal. As I'm sure you know every bird is different, so if you suspect yours to see this as mating behavior then yes definitely consider avoiding it for a while.

I've done this with chicken chicks for years. Sometimes you have that one chick in the group that won't stop peeping and "panicking" or you have one you want to pet but they panic. Just like you said, you can feel that crazy going on in their brain, and feel it leave and relax to a happy paradise of love lol. I probably never would have thought to use this on a parrot. Still studying before I jump in and get one, so I'm making note of this amazing tip. You rock, girl!

I have a conure and lost a few in the past. I found out that they don't fight or cry out if crushed slowly. Even to the point of death, after that, I needed to understand why he didn't cry out or bite to let me know I was hurting him. With the next bird, I tested in a nice way and no harm to him and he is still with me and happy as can be. Has his own room and always out with me, as per his preference. He did not cry out and bite in protest, I don't know why they are this way. He will bite me if he is upset or not liking what I'm doing, hates plastic things if I have them in my hand and he is biting hard but start to crush or pressure on him or them in general. Don't have to hurt to realize this with green-cheek conures. My bird now is going on to five years old now and glued to me as much as he can. I love him so much and would never let him be hurt. He's cool and rides in my shoulder when I'm on my motorcycle. Just loves trying anything and long hair and kids and loves to party with people but I did socializing very much we're strangers all the when he was a baby and still now he gets this training.

@VictoriaRyann
@VictoriaRyann 5 жыл бұрын
HEY STEVE!!! Lol like deja vu with Yoshi 😂 With mine, I would have to direct him to fly into a different room that I had more control. Cause he would constantly fly around and run away from me. But if hes not flying into the direction you're wanting him to, I'd keep trying to catch him but calmly. Of course as you probably already know to keep your emotions calm and don't speak during this. Your voice is just going to raise his excitement and make it worse. If he still keeps flying around every time you approach him don't back down. He will eventually get tired and start to slow down and even moreso if he sees that you aren't getting tired yourself as well as remaining calm. Going forward I would come up with some sort of game plan as to stopping this from happening in the future so you don't constantly have to wear him out just to catch him. You'll see it moreso in my next video but in my house where there isn't doors like the living room to the kitchen for example, I have a mesh magnetic screen thingy that you can get at walmart for like $15. When its time for breakfast, I take him into the kitchen to eat while hes being supervised by me. When hes done, I am the one to take him past the screen mesh thingy into the living room to his play area. Unfortunately when they are young and fully flighted, they get a sense of entitlement and arrogance that they can do what they want in the house and fly everywhere on their own terms. They have no boundaries. Yes we love our birds and our house is theirs but that doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants. The house is not his own personal playground. Of course I don't know the layout of your house but is it possible to confine him to a couple of rooms only? He may not be ready to have the whole house to fly around maybe when he learns to obey give him a little more freedom. Sorry for the book I just wrote to you lol but whatever you decide to do I do believe hes gotten a little to big for his britches with the freedom he has in your home lol
@stevehall3474

We have a curtain to keep him out of the kitchen. We are actually in then process of buying a house where he and our other bird will share a room to themselves, separate cages though. We try to keep him in his own area but sometimes when that door opens, he pulls the Alcatraz escape and makes a run for it. We just calmy go get him and put him back to his area.

I want to get a green cheek but i dont know what to do with windows and non-stick pans what do u do?
@VictoriaRyann
@VictoriaRyann 5 жыл бұрын
Well are you getting a green cheek that's fully flighted or wings trimmed? Do you usually keep your windows open or something? Cause if you keep them open I'd have some sort of screen so the birdy doesn't fly out. If the birds wings aren't trimmed you'll more than likely have to keep curtains closed for a while until he learns your home in case he freaks out you don't want him to fly right into the window thinking he's going to make it outside. As far as the nonstick pans of course id recommend getting rid of them but if that's not an option, I'd be super super careful not to overheat the pans and making sure your bird isnt in the room or nearby room when you're cooking. Hope this helps ya!
