This tutorial is for a mandala that is on the front and back of the shirt. This is a mandala that was tied with sinew. I got in some new Happy Cat Tie Dye colors and Dyespin Dark Horse dyes that I wanted to try on this shirt.

That purple really stands out strongly, lovely. The outer areas look cool with the teal at the top flowing into darker split at the bottom.

Gorgeous colors! If you could only afford to get two or three colors from Happy Cat or Dyespin...which would you select?? I love my Happy Cat colors, but want to order more! I started with Strawberry Skies, Mystic Blue and Dragon Egg. Strawberry Skies is my all time favorite!

Thank you! You started with my favorite Happy Cat colors, I love those. I also like Goodberry, Cosmic Energy, and Bkack Magic. I just bought the Dyespin dark horse dyes not too long ago, so I haven't experimented a lot yet. I really like Elysian and Wild Garden so far. I think Elysian is very similar to Strawberry Skies.

I do love the outside colors! I'm not too keen on the blues and purples together with the greens, on this pattern, maybe on a different pattern it would be more attractive to me, personally. Otherwise I do love this pattern! As far as the dye houses, I started out with all Dharma colors. Then I ordered some from ProChem. And now, because I have heard of and seen some of the Darkhorse colors, I just placed an order with them. I do mostly ice dyeing now, so that is what I look for when ordering dyes. Love your tutorials, Angie!!!

Certainly good news for those of us who enjoy ice dying. I was kind of curious how long it would take for some of the bigger dye companies to see Happy Cat's success and start working on their own. Have you tried Dyespins Epic Black? Sounds interesting with 5 component dyes.

I am glad they are branching out too. Ice dyeing has become so popular, it's nice to have colors designed specifically for the color splits. I don't think I've ice dyed with Epic Black. I agree with you though that it sounds like it would be cool.
