Lovely pattern! I admit, I thought you were using an awful lot of yellow (don't care for yellow or orange), and was prepared to not like this. But it came out so much better than I thought. And now we know why you have a KZbin channel and I do not, lol. Seriously, I love how this turned out.

I've found yellow doesn't disolve or travel through fabric well. Blues will move a lot. When I do hot water or ice dye I also use a lot more yellow. And in a rainbow little green as the blue will travel to the yellow.

Girl I absolutely love watching u do tie dye! U are amazing at it!!! That being said… can u pls help me??? Idk why but I cannot get good saturation at all! Anytime I try to do a shirt and it has more folds than just centering it. It literally never turns out! Always way too much white! And no matter how many times I let it sit a while and then add more dye, it just puddles on top and will not soak on into and through the middle folds! It is killing me!!! Thanks so much!

Thank you! So my first question is are you soaking in soda ash and dyeing your piece damp? Also for thick folds you need a lot of dye. You can use a cuticle pusher and press down into the folds as well. I hope this helps😊💜

Yeah I always soak them in soda ash first, normally for a couple days. I have tried wringing it out by hand and spinning it out in the washing machine…. I have absolutely soaked it with so much dye that it puddles on top! I have tried squeezing the folds, letting it soak in then add more multiple times on each side and no matter what I do it will not go all the way through! It’s frustrating me to the point that I’m about the throw in the towel! I use procion dye, precision tip bottles, all that stuff but nothing seems to help! Could I not be leaving the shirt wet enough or something?? I just don’t get it! 😤 Sorry lol and thank u so much for responding! I really appreciate ur help!

Question for you…when you mix your dye with the soda ash do you use the same recipe for all colors, or do you use more dye for the Dharma colors with the asterisks? Also, can the soda ash/dye be stored for future use, or should it be used right away? Maybe the soda ash doesn’t cause a reaction ‘til it’s wet?? Thanks for sharing all your tricks 🥰

Thanks so much! So I follow the Dharma asterisks and measurements to a t for all my dye mixtures. Also I reuse my soda ash multiple times. Typically for about a week or so soaking 5 or so shirts daily. I hope this helps😊

My I ask a couple of questions? Do you ice dye, dry shirt or damp shirt? How do you get the best results? Do you soda ash? I have done tye dyeing before but would like to do onesies and they get washed a lot. I dont want it to fade. Looking for help.

I like to soak it in soda ash first and spin it out so it’s damp. I tie and dye it damp. I think that it the best way to ice dye 😊💜
