I've seen these forever. But had never ate one until today, like 1min ago. I know how to identify them but just needed a little refresher.. that's what brought me here now. I had one in my yard in a usual area. My honey mushrooms had bugs & went bad so if figured I'd just eat this one since it just came up. I never noticed an almond or sweet smell before. This one I thought smelled a bit sweet possibly fruity. But when I started cooking it, I tried a piece & it tasted a whole lot like almond. It tasted more like a store bought after it became an omelet. Thank you for this video!

Where do you put the anise aroma? In or out of edibility? As for the others some say the smell like a hot motherboard.

I'd assume it would be species dependent. I know I've heard of elan edible smelling like anise before, but I wouldn't trust every mushroom that does. Like with spores, white can be edible or deadly depending on the mushroom. Apricot is another smell I'd not associate with just edible ones.

Some agaricus gills don't start out white. Somtimes light grey or fleshy. Just thought I would add. And not all agaricus stain yellow. Please do more ready before you morphological attribute a full genus or family.

You're right about the gills, but she actually didn't say that all agaricus stain yellow. The wording was a little confusing, but she said that staining yellow is a "common reaction" for agaricus, not that it's true for all agaricus.
