How to Import RED Footage and create PROXIES

Great vid - just what I needed man! People are complaining about how long it is, but in general for tutorials with very specific steps involved I'm always having to replay steps over and over to make sure I got it just right. For this one, you had everything there and it didn't feel rushed. This is my first time making proxies with RED footage so the slow pace was perfect for my needs. Keep it up man.

A quick tip: In width/height, there's a build in calculator. So you can just press where the numbers are and divide by 4 or what ever you want. Example: So you press on the numer : "7680" and the just insert /4 at the end, press enter and it automatically changes. Don't turn off the icon to the right of the resolution numbers, it will apply the divide to both widthand height. It's like this everywhere in premiere/after effects and most 3D software around. Hope this helps someone skip the calculator. Merry christmas.

Yes I agree, with a little more thought beforehand he could have cut this whole video down by 70 percent...I didn't watch the whole thing but I think it could have been as easy as 1) I need to create a proxy pre-set 2) Do some simple math to find out what resolution will work best for my footage 3) Create Preset in Encoder 4) Import footage using the trick he showed 5) Apply Preset....so many KZbin creators fail at properly organizing or editing their tutorials to eliminate the unnecessary babbling - BUT I appreciate the Olufemii content just for the fact that he voluntarily invests his time in making it in the first place ...and I'm a Mac guy so I will never use this

How do you set your Transfer settings if you have to do it manually? For example, yours defaulted to F:\Media\Clips. Mine, I had a "browse for location" button pop up instead. Also... I followed your instructions, but I'm getting an ingest error (preset mismatch) saying that the selected preset contains a file copy action which is not permitted for proxy generation. What's the mean and why is it popping up Adobe Preimere 2021?

So my project has different ratios for footage, I've created 2 preset's both encode and injest so far with no problem but when I went to create the Injest preset based on my 3rd encode preset, the encode preset is not showing up in the drop down log for me to successfully create the 3rd Injest preset. Its only showing the last to presets I made. Any help you can offer?

Doesn't your camera shoot proxies simultaneously? I have the older Red Dragon which doesn't but all the DSMC2 cameras give you the option of recording ProRes proxies while filming.

Huh? Dividing by any random number you want doesn't work! It just doesn't work like that.. hence when you look at your monitor you see the black bars on the bottom and top. Sure it's ok for proxies, but coming from "you" I would think you would give me the proper way to do things like this. Color grading would be fine.. but should you need to drop into say AE (dynamic link) and do some kind of effect(s) that MUST be spot on and then come back to Premiere, then final edit on the high res footage for a final.. that spot on effect will not be spot on because of your dividing H x W by just some random number and "rounding" is not the proper way! All you have to do is visit bneijt.nl/pr/resolution-scale-calculator/ put your 8192 x 4320 in and get a 'proper' dimension.
