I wholeheartedly concur. Whenever I attempt a parallel turn I find that my outer foot wants to lead, and I can't seem to actually engage the turn with the inner foot leading. Not sure if I need to be putting more weight on the front or back with my inner foot. Any pointers on how to condition my legs/feet for optimal positioning would be immensely appreciated.

Hey Tiago, you said to do this on various types of floors, do you change your wheels? Like if I just had a hard session urban would that affect a session indoors on a polished basketball court for example?
@TiagoInlineSkater2 жыл бұрын
Well, it depends on the wheels you have, and your skating style/preferences! ( plus it depends on your heigh and weight even if not a lot of people notice that) but there is a good all-around hardness : around 85A. Good for pretty much everything!

Did no one notice that Jon did the excercise wrong? He went straight past all three cones before the sharp turn rather than doing a crossover turn after the second cone before doing the sharp turn to the opposite side (not that it matters, turns in all directions were present. bolillo222 really? awesome! this flore is slippery so I can't go super fast when cornering. and I'm using 84A wheels, so I don't have that much grip Hockey players have a lot of grip , cause (for roller hockey) they use super soft wheels, and for the ice, one part of the blades "dig" the ice when cornering , so huge grip in this specific moment :) so they can go faster

We're those crossovers? They didn't really look like them, more like side step pushes and then into the turn. Anyways, I'll give this a shot and see how I do, might help me to stop looking at my feet when doing jumps
@HarmonicaMustang6 жыл бұрын
Speed at which you perform certain manoeuvres is an important variable with a rockered setup. At slower speeds, deep and full crossovers are more efficient and easier to execute. However at higher speeds there is not enough grip to perform a proper crossover, so quick steps are usually better for maintaining grip, control and acceleration.
@Mrmhibbert6 жыл бұрын
DJ Shuffle that's all I was saying is that they weren't full crossovers at that speed. It is possible to do them at higher speeds on a rocker setup but having to switch into a turn so quickly makes it almost impossible to do them
@HarmonicaMustang6 жыл бұрын
Of course it depends on the floor surface and its condition as well. At my local rink, if I try going faster than cruising speed and do full crossovers my wheels will slip and I'll be kissing the ground, even when taking it wide. I find that it's better to do a single full crossover for getting things moving from a standstill or low speed, then followup with side-steps to continue the acceleration with control. Anyway, each to his own. This drill is to help you improve, and if you're getting positive results and good habits out of it then great.
@Mrmhibbert6 жыл бұрын
DJ Shuffle yeah I think I'm lucky to skate on smooth varnished wood floors when indoors. I'd love to skate in this surface that Tiago has in Paris, but it also looks sticky and slippy at the same time

My knees hurt when I skate, any advice?
@atomic165725 жыл бұрын
JetJiles sorry if im wrong, but check your skates to see if they are soft shell type. what happens with soft shell type is that because it easily bends in many directions, unwanted twists and weights occur on your joints (hip, knees, ankles, etc), causing pain. Hard shell type tend to be a little bit more expensive than soft ones, but it is definitely worth the price
