Moving laterally can be challenging and dangerous for anyone who has lost the ability to stabilize through their intrinsic core and rotate efficiently in the their Thoracic Spine. Unfortunately traditional training modalities don't venture outside the Sagittal plane of movement resulting in poor rotation ability in the Transverse Plane. Ankle, knee and hip injuries are very common in people / athletes who fail to optimise the Transverse Plane of movement. Be sure to apply proper Myofascial Release techniques and functional warm up before attempting this move. We recommend consulting a professional practitioner (or us) for more advice if you suffer from any ankle, knee or hip pain. enjoy.
