In this video, I explain how to improve your 3rd ball attack.
This is where you serve, your opponent returns and you attack the next ball. Sometimes this may be a winner, but not necessarily.
Basically, it’s your opportunity put your opponent under pressure and take control of the rally.
If you can get good at 3rd ball attacks, you're going to win a lot more points.

I think topspin serve is a lot easier to predict opponent's return. If you serve backspin, most players would push/chop return as backspin, or flick/loop return as topspin and the chance is about 50/50. But when serve topspin, people usually either just block or topspin it back to you, they rarely chop the ball to change it to backspin (unless you are facing chopper or long pimples/anti user), so against normal players it is almost 90% of the time they will return topspin back to you, and this can be very useful when you are confident at playing fast-paced. Please let me know what you think.

Yes, I completely agree. Topspin serves are almost always returned with topspin, unless playing a defensive player as you rightly say. As long as you keep your topspin serves low (so not too easy to attack) and you have good topspin rallying skills, it can be a very effective serve/3rd ball combination.

Correct, however if they read the serve or predict it then they wont block it rather attack it (flick loop etc). This is bad not because they are attacking the ball but because you have given up the opportunity to make the first offensive shot, losing the iniative of the rally making you worse off.

Coach,if I serve to their forehand side with a good side, back spin serve, they return with a good reversed side back spin(short push) near the net on backhand side..The third ball attack is not much of a help here,What would be best strategy to finish the point quicker in this? Also this can happen also in double match when I put spin on my serve, opponent returned it with reversed spin and where my partner is having a difficulty to play smash with short ball return like ball goes into net or fly over with much top spin, unless a long deep return where he can smash without any prob,ps my partner is a penhold,Im a shakehand

So I recommend two things... (1) Serve very long side-backspin (near the end of the table) - this is much harder to keep the return short. (2) Serve sidespin or side-topspin - again this is harder to keep short. Good luck!

Tell me about it!! Drives me crazy. But I've now found a way to reduce the reverb when filming and reduce some more when editing. So any new videos I do (from Sept 18) should be better. I'll still have some reverb, but much less than my older videos.
