I finally got around to this highly requested video! I am a CFL1 trainer and I have many years of experience in comeptitive sports and weightlifting as well as many hours of coaching individuals, sports teams, military personnel, and group classes. I am confident if you put in the work to get your push ups you will be able to add on a ton of reps with great form and technique ! I have helped a ton of my girls in my flight for basic training pass their PT test with the tips I have shared in this video. I will be doing a video on running and sit ups so that you are able to pass your PT test regardless of branch! So don't forget to subscribe so you can see those videos in the near future! going to be trying this out. I can’t even do one push-up but hoping this helps me. I’m hoping to join the Air Force later this year. I’ve been putting off the ASVAB for a while now due to being a bad test taker and I let 2020 bring me down but this is the year I finally take over my life again and really chase my dream instead of just talking....sorry I got carried away in this comment lol💀

What I like about this video is the fact you tell us the physical cues in plain English without the "fitness influencer" buzzwords especially when it came to the hand position, grip and variations. In fact, when I tried testing it with a set of 8 push-ups, it kinda shocked me how much it worked the tricep just from changing the hand position. Even as a civvie, these tips are gonna help with my lockdown/home working exercise routine. Cheers :)

Thanks so much, I'm in Navy and Marine JROTC and we did numbers today and I went from being able to do 25 push-ups with NY elbow outward and looking at my toes, to being able to do 57 with my elbows coming inward, looking strait down at my fingertips and my vline being straight forward, you helped a lot!!!

@@AmberKuunani did you ever do the situp video because in JROTC here we do crunches but they call them situps, but I know they aren't situps and I'm looking to join the army out of highschool at 17 and I want to be somewhat physically fit because I know it's very demanding, and I would like to know if I'm doing them correctly. Thank you for giving actual useful tips regarding pushups, rather than the typical "just do more." The hand positioning is huge and that's something I never see in other pushup vids

Totally helps and something as simple as that makes a huge difference. But unfortunately we also gotta put in that work in order to be more confident and get more push ups too!

Thanks to your technique my technique is improving. With my daughter on my back or not I struggle to do it for more than 2 mins at a go. Brutal. Managed 5 mins with breaks. With this technique even the knee sit-ups are not easy. I'm improving slowly. Thanks for well explained video.

Thanks for this video! I've never successfully done a push up and I followed the immediate steps (skipped the chair thing because I'm impatient and in a hurry) and did not one but 2 full push ups! My body was shaking during the hold but I did it none the less!

Will I be able to bring my own feminine products (lotion, hair oil, etc) bootcamp or will they take it when I get there? I know we can shop at the NEX but I wanna bring a couple of my usual items lol😭

I took my ASVAB and scored higher than average and I really didn’t have much time to study at all so my only advice so far is start downloading ASVAB apps to study for it if it’s something your considering cus you’ll probably score even higher lol!

This is very useful. I took the ASVAB and qualified for the job I like but I need to loose the weight I obtained back. Push-ups are very hard for me but i want to push for it. Thanks for these tips tbh. I’m going to the gym today and will try adjusting my hands to the V and position. I’m going for the coast guard so far. Swimming I got down but my gosh push ups 😂

Fascinating all those tips. I'm doing strength work because I need it sometimes for lifting at work. Running out of all energy when I'm putting back a very heavy cover is interesting but not much fun.

I turned 40 years old and to celebrate making it to this milestone I’m working towards doing 40 in a row - i can do way more with my elbows flared (17) but i’m going to start doing them this way to protect my shoulders and start doing way more per day! Do you think at my age doing 100 a day is a start?

You will have to modify your push-up first. Your body might not be strong enough to complete a full push-up. Try it on a high surface first and progress down to a normal push-up! It’ll take some adjustment but your body will adjust

Amber Tantog well, apparently I’d been doing push-ups with my elbows out all along lol. So I have some form improvements to work on. And I can do it on my knees (girl push up) but in about two weeks I should be independent of the knee assistance. I definitely felt the burn in my triceps tho 😩 gonna be sore tomorrow.

Amber Tantog oh and the grip technique helped. I did feel a little discomfort in my wrist? This has been an issue before while doing push-ups... maybe I’m doing something wrong 🤔 but we will see in about a week how the wrists are affected.

DiamoNdaRough510 it’ll take some time to get adjusted but I can tell you the girls in my flight didn’t like it at first but they loved it eventually! Give it some time and I’m sure you’ll notice a difference! I’m very weak in my chest and my triceps’s are a lot stronger generally so I excel further with this technique!

I thinnkkk 1×3s is do 1min as much as possible, then divide that number by 3 then do whatever number that is in as many sets as you want.. but its been a while 😂

I can't do chameleon grip at all and it sucks cause I'm 6-5 so I have to bend so far down

I have always been active growing up and have lifted since 2009. I have been coaching CrossFit since 2016 and have been doing CrossFit since 2013. I highly reccomend crossfit as a foundation for weightlifting and prepping for any sport or fitness test.

Just modify and work on those movements. The more you do the movement the more comfortable and stronger you’ll get.

You’ve got this! Make sure you get rest so your muscles are able to build and recover! Get 8 hours is sleep night prior! Good luck!

Around 1:37 I have an question. So about the hand placement, I see it everywhere from your hand being straight, outwards (like what you just demonstrated) and inwards. I have a video on regulations of tattoos. Tattoos are only restricted neck up and on the hands, with an exception of a wedding band on your left ring finger. They must be in good taste and fully healed before enlistment. I have the full AFI on that video in the link!
