The 2nd choice looks like the 3 notes per string one but how come no dots on high E string? Does it change if U do it in key of C as opposed to key of g?
@guitar-academy
@guitar-academy 2 жыл бұрын
The shape remains the same for the different key signatures but where you start the scale changes. As you can see 'G' starts on the 3rd fret where as 'C' starts on the 8th fret.

@@guitar-academy yeah but I still don't understand why you didn't put the high string dots in?.. Is that just preference?
@guitar-academy
@guitar-academy 2 жыл бұрын
@@Add_Account485 NO, for the 2nd pattern you don't use the top 'E' string, just play as it is. To be a major scale it starts and finishes on the tonic which is this case is 'G'

why does no one ever mention the importance of learning the correlating arpeggio? This is more important than memorizing the scale itself, as it provides melody and musical quality to the notes (any) that are played. The key is to play around the arpeggio.
@guitar-academy
@guitar-academy 10 жыл бұрын
The reason nobody mentions the importance of the arpeggio is because the guitarist gains for more from playing around with the scales as that is where both the melody and the harmony. The arpeggios are the domain of the bassist so if the guitar starts playing just arpeggios as well as the bassist the music would be very boring. Also, the arpeggios come from the scales and not the other way around . . . Don't get me wrong however, it is useful to learn the arpeggio, but after you have learned the scales.
