"Learn How To Play Gypsy Jazz Guitar"
In this series of video lessons I'm answering your questions about playing Gypsy Jazz Guitar.
This weeks question comes from Fabian in Uruguay who asks "How to improvise over J'attendrai?"
In this video I break down each section of the chord changes and focus in to look at the best notes to guise us through the progression.
Tips:
Chunk it down
Look at each change separately
Play the chords in open position
Take a step back and take you time!
It's all about learning and absorbing these little things that will go onto taking your playing to the next level.
Have fun and please let me know if you have a question you'd like me to answer for you.
Send your questions to - questions@GypsyJazzSecrets.com.

"The certain notes I play everyday on the guitar, which I don't even know what they are or what their function is, all I know is that they work, and it comes from the heart, it comes from the soul, and that is what the listener is gonna relate to as well" I'll try to remember that, very nice quote

Gypsy Jazz Secrets Hey Robin, I came back to this lesson one more time and I got one question How do we train our ear?I think I have a decent ear training, but I mean, How can we get to play what we hear in our minds when Improvising? I've been struggling so much with improvisation the last 2 months, but I notice that as soon as I hear half a line, or lick or whatever, I can hear (or imagine) how it goes on, and I'd really like to play what I imagine the moment I imagine it, do you have some advice? Thank you for all your help on this wonderful style and I'd love to play with you someday, cheers Robin :)

Amazing stuff, especially about trusting your ear! Can you do a lesson devoted to the hammer-ons and pull-offs that you do? Along with the 6th and the 9th, they really seem to be an important part of the Gypsy Jazz sound.

Grat lesson. Thanks a lot. But why you called the G in the Dm the sixth? It's confusing... It sounds beautiful, though... The sixth isn't Bb?
@GypsyJazzSecrets
@GypsyJazzSecrets 8 жыл бұрын
+maria teresa canton hi Maria - the 6th is B natural and gives that beautiful flavour on both a major and minor chord. - You know just follow your ears - the 6th or 7th are just names and numbers - the music is the truth!

Great Lesson, nice ideas easy to follow. You made one small error at 12:45. G is the 4th Scale degree of Dminor, not the 6th. I loved the lesson tho!
