Open communication is the most important. Both partners need to share their thoughts on what upsets them about each other, and what makes them happy. Both need to open up, if only one partner opens up, and the other doesn't, it will fall apart. You don't need to have things in common, allow them to share in their interests, be open to their life, and see how you can make the best in making life more interesting for your partner, so you can grow and learn things together. is what makes love grow as well. Also just supporting them when life gets them down and being that soft shoulder they can lean on when life gets tough. Thats love

“I never get tired of that smile.” “Honey, seriously, thank you for always having my laundry ready.” “I’m so glad to come home to you.” “No one has eyes as pretty as yours,” while you’re holding her/him close in the kitchen or laundry room and looking into them. “I love these lips,” whispered up close just before you bite the bottom one gently as you’re holding her/him, and then walk slowly away. 30 second warm hug for no reason. And no groping. Real eye contact, not just glancing at her/him. Hold her/his face in your hands, look into her/his eyes for 7 seconds, and w/o breaking eye contact, go in slow for a 15 second kiss. Then walk away. Whisper something sweet in her/his ears that isn’t sexual. Leave a sticky note on the mirror-“I think about you all day long” Hum or sing a little tune in her ear-she/he won’t care if it’s off key. Get the car window spray stuff and put your initials, a heart, and her initials like in high school. I’m sure you can Google hundreds more that are more fitting for your significant other. Good luck, I’m rooting for you! (Be patient. It may take her/him some time to get used to such tender things again. Do them anyway. Don’t make them feel pressured to do anything in return for the time being.)
