Serotonin - that super-important chemical that carries messages around your brain and your whole body. It's well-known as a mood stabiliser. When our serotonin levels are low, this has been linked to low mood and depression.
Serotonin also has an inhibitory effect on sexual desire. For men, lower serotonin levels can speed up their ejaculation reflex, potentially causing premature ejaculation.
If you don't want to take SSRI medication, you might be considering how to increase serotonin levels naturally.
So here's a quick run through of ways to get your serotonin levels up. I explain which foods are rich in tryptophan - which is essential for serotonin production - and optimal balancing of protein and carbs.

I did read to have ya tryptophan on an empty stomach.... I'm not sure of the mechanism but having many supps with coffee I thought makes them more bio available... so it would stand to reason why I've had good results having trypto in my morning cuppa while fasted

Hello, options include medication (typically SNRIs), dietary supplements and lifestyle adjustments such as exercise. But it does depend on why your's might be low in the first place, so a consultation with your doctor is way to go.

Indeed - research suggests that yoga can effecively boost serotonin and dopamine levels. Good point!

Thank you I am particularly interested in the premature ejaculation A friend wanted to know but the only information I could find was the use of about 3 condoms to delay it And awareness of constant mastubation
